• Low hanging fruit: customers who easily
get convinced. An action that can be easily
taken.
• Sabina was worried about finishing her
targets for the month. She had a list of
pending tasks. She looked rather worried
& couldn’t concentrate on her work. Only

vision. Everyone came up with the ideas

• A lot of candidates were walking in for
the post of IT head. Everyone was asked,
“What are the milestone in your career?”
• Most of them spoke about their
achievements, promotions, etc. But, it
was only Ramesh who answered that
when he was not promoted in his
previous company that was a milestone
for him.
• Failures too are milestones as they make
you work harder. This attitude gave
Ramesh a job that he had aspired for.

 Reach out: to connect to people.
 In today’s world it is imperative that you
reach out to people in a way they
understand.
 The entire effort of branding is about

way that is appealing to them.

action & targets at a go getter audience.

Run the numbers
 Run the numbers: Do financial calculations.
 Ranjan was to present a project plan; the
concept & financials to his boss. He had to
convince his boss that this project was going
to milk profits for the company.
 As he started to present the plan, his boss
initially reacted skeptically. But, when Ranjan
started to present a bigger picture of how the
project will impact the company, he got
interested. He immediately asked him to run
through the numbers & was thoroughly
impressed by the Ranjan’s vision.

 Mike didn’t address his team about how it
has become imperative for them to think

economy is bound to be recessive. In such

RBI should coherently frame policies to
boost investments.

creates employment & spending capacity. It

the game. Usually to make it difficult for the
other party to achieve the goal.
 Shereyu was arguing in a meeting that his
consistent performance on all parameters
deserved a promotion.
 His boss immediately moved the goal post &
said, “According to seniority you cannot be
promoted.”
 The previously agreed upon parameters
were being arbitrarily changed, to win a
losing side/ argument.

you need everyone’s help at a time
when a lot has to be achieved in a short
period of time.
 It was a Wednesday morning when my
manager called for an urgent meeting.
 He addressed us by saying, “We have a

the HCL project a week in advance. All I
would say is get to work together. Let us
have all hands on the deck. We will

 A stall outside a mall was selling some
postcards. It is no longer fashionable to
send postcards. So what was this young
lad banking on in an age of emails?
 He attracted many people by saying,

your family, friends & lover? Agreed it’s a
click away. But, come experience the joy
of surprising your loved ones. This is

Sweat the assets
 Sweat the assets: maximizing your
assets.
 Robin a tennis player was unable to
understand why he had lost the match
against Sagar? After the match when he
sat to think about where he lacked, bang
he got the answer. “I am not less in any
way to Sagar on any parameter, in fact I
am better than him on many.”
 The difference he realized was that he

years. All that she did is to observe, absorb,
learn & perform consistently.
