Kwanzaa is celebrated from December 26 to January 1 to honor African heritage and culture. It involves fasting, feasting, and self-reflection. Started in 1966 by cultural nationalists, Kwanzaa is now observed by 18 million people worldwide. The celebration centers around seven principles represented by seven symbols, with each day focusing on a different principle of unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.
