3. Levels Of Education
Following are the levels of Education:
• Pre School Level
• Primary Level
• Middle Level
• Secondary Level
• Higher Secondary Level
• Graduate & post Graduate Level
4. Pre-School Level
Pre-school level
is designed for
the age group of
3 – 5 years old. It
constitutes of 3
stages.

Nursery
Kindergarten
5. Primary Level
This level is designed
for children ranging
between 6 – 10 years of
age. It constitutes of
Classes 1- 5.
Children are usually
taught basic subjects:
English
Urdu
Mathematics
Science
Social Studies
Religious Studies
6. Middle Level:
After passing grade 5 exams students are
promoted into Middle level. It is from class 6
to class 8.
Children of this age group start to analyze,
solve and evaluate problems requiring
critical thinking.
Secondary Level :
In secondary level 9 and 10 class are taught
which are divided into three main sections
such as (arts , science & computer sciences)
according to the student’s mental caliber.

Higher Secondary : (Under
Graduate)
After passing grade 9/10 levels students
are promoted to 11/12 level which is called
intermediate (F.A/ FSc).students have lot
of options to do there inter according to
their interest such as (engineering , pre
engineering , commerce etc.)

Graduate & Post Graduate :
After passing under graduate level they
have a chance to continue their studies
and take admission in university for their
bachelor’s degree such as engineering ,
B.A , BSC ,MBBS , LLB , etc.
After their bachelor’s degree they can be
enrolled in master’s degree programs.
They have a chance to do M.Phils. or
Ph.D.

17. Administrative Unit of Provincial Education
Department
Directorate of Public Instruction (Colleges):
DPI Colleges is responsible for supervising
colleges.
Implements Provincial Educational Policy
Appointment and transfer of Professors and
Assistant Professors within provincial boundaries.
Distribute the grants given by government
among colleges
Suggest government to open colleges at
appropriate locations.
18. Educational Directorate at Provincial Level
Director of Public Instruction i.e DPI Schools is responsible for
managing schools.
He has the following responsibilities:
o Supervise and manage the schools within the province.
o Appointment, Promotion and transfer of Teacher, Head
master and District Education Officer.
o Manage Co-curricularActivities.
o Implement Education Policy in province.
o Suggest to open Schools at appropriate locations within
province.
19. Director Public Instruction (Se)
DPI Secondary looks after all the affairs of the schools.
Appointment and transfer of officers of Grade 17 and
above is his responsibility.
Director Public Instruction (EE):
DPI Elementary looks after the affairs of Primary
and Middle Schools.
Divisional Directorate of Education:
Director of Education is responsible for all Private and
Government Educational Institutions.
20. District Education Officer
(D.E.O)
District Education officer is responsible for the
supervision of secondary level.
Two Deputy District Education officer work
under him, one male and one female.
In Punjab there are 3 District Education
Officers .

21. Duties of D.E.O
D.E.O is responsible for
security of school building
provision of resources
repair and maintenance
supervision of education and discipline within the
school
secure the rights of the faculty members of the

Assistant Education Officer is responsible for:
providing salaries to teachers of Primary and
Middle schools.
observation of primary and middle schools
at least once in 3 months.
suggest transfer of primary and middle
teachers to D.E.O
