joint musculoskeletal

  1. 1. A joint is the location in which twoor more bones articulate or makescontacts. Some joints likes those ofthe skull are fixed and have nomovements, some are like vertebraecan move slightly and some arefreely moveable like the joints of thelimbs.
  2. 2. 1.Fibrous joints 2.Synovial joints3.Cartilaginous joints
  3. 3. Fibrous joints connect bones withoutallowing any movement. The bones ofthe skull and pelvis are held together byfibrous joints. The union of spinousprocess and vertebrae, joints betweenteeth, maxilla and mandible are theexample of fibrous joints.
  4. 4. The capsule joints is enclosed andsurrounded by fibrous joints. Thiskeeps the bones together. The capsulesprotects the bones and joints frominjury and allow free movement.
  5. 5. Cartilaginous joints are joints in whichthe bones are attached by cartilage. Inthis type of joints, there is a pad of fibrocartilage between the end of the boneswhich form joints, where somemovement are required. Cartilaginousjoints are divide into primary cartilagejoints and secondary cartilage joints.
  6. 6. The main movement of thesynaviol joint Flexion: bending forward Extension: straighting or bending backwords Abduction: moving away from the midline of the body Adduction: moving towards the midline of the body Rotation: moving round the axis of bone Pronation: turning the palm of the hand down Supination: turning the palm of the hand up Circumulation: combination of flexion, extension, abduction, adduction
  7. 7. Main synovial joint of the upperlimb Shoulder joint it’s a ball and socket type of joints. The head of the humerus rotated within the glenoid cavity of the scapula. Elbow jointThis joint is formed the lower end of the humerus with the upper end of the ulna and radius. It’s type of hinge joint Wrist jointThis joint is formed by the distal end of the radius an d the proximal end of the carpals bones .its the condyloid joint
  8. 8. •Hip jointsThe head of the femur bone fits into a cup shaped acetabulum of the hip bone.•Knee jointIt is formed by two condyles of the femur with the condyles of the tibia and that posteria surface of the patella.
