Beef Quality Assurance guidelines, products should be
administered in the muscular region of the neck.
Primary Vaccination: Administer an initial 5-mL dose,
followed by a second 5-mL dose 3 weeks later. As an aid in
preventing IBR-induced abortion and BVD persistently
infected calves, administer at approximately 5 and 2 weeks
prior to breeding. Calves vaccinated before the age of 6
months should be revaccinated after 6 months of age.
Revaccination: Annual revaccination with a single dose is

The vaccine contains pasteurella multocida types A,B & D and pasteurella
haemolytica types A & T inactivated with formalin and emulsified in oil
base.
VACCINATION PROGRAM:
- Animals vaccinated with two doses four weeks internal.
- For pregnant animals, vaccination with two doses four weeks internals at
6-8 weeks before parturition.
- Animals born from vaccinated dams should be vaccinated at 8 weeks of
age.
- Animals born from unvaccinated dams should be vaccinated at one week
age.
- Revaccination with one dose annually.

3-Brucella Vaccine
PACKAGE:
Vials 10 ml contains 10 reduced doses of lyophilized vaccine
( 3-10 x 109 CFU / dose ( accompanied with 20 ml diluent.
Protection of cattle, buffaloes
against Brucellosis
Living attenuated smooth B.abortus strain 19 in
serous form or freeze dried (lyophilized vaccine).
SC to female calves between 4 to 8 months old
5 successive years
Full dose (standard dose): about 60 – 80 x109
microbial cells in about 2ml.
Reduced dose (1/20 of full dose): It is widely used
nowadays specially in un-affected herd and it is
characterized by rapid decline in aglutinins.
1
* Used in female calves at 4 – 8 months (average 6
months).
* Not used before 4 months of age due to:
(1) Reticulo-endothelial system is still undeveloped
so may result in low titer of antibodies (not
protect against disease).
(2) When given at this age, the colostrums
antibodies interfere the microbial dose and so
the immunity produce is low.
* Not used after 8 months of age: Animal produces
permanent agglutinin titer (permanent +ve
serological test).
* Disadvantage of this vaccine:
(1) Used to vaccination of female only due to it
produce orchitis in bull.
(2) Not use in adult female as it cause abortion
except it can use in adult female in case of
outbreak.
(3) Interfere with control program due to it give
serological +ve (5% of vaccinated animal give
resistant agglutinin for 2 – 3 years).
(4) Give infection and un-dutant fever to human.
(5) Not prevent complete infection from udder.
(6) It need to be refrigerated, problems of storage
and transport at 4oC.
COMPOSITION:
Each dose of reconstituted vaccine contains 3-10 x109
CFU of Brucella abortus Strain 19.
ADVERSE REACTIONS:
These occur rarely in both calves and adults , to be more
sever in foreign breeds.
A local swelling occurs particularly in adult cattle and
there may be a sever systemic reaction manifested by
fever lasting
for 2-3 days.
Anaphylactic shock may occur and immediate treatment
with adrenaline hydrochloride ( 1m1. of 1 : 1000 diluted
solution
injected subcutaneously ) or Antihistaminic drug, is also
recommended
Live attenuated vaccine of Brucella

1. Not result in measurable Ab titers to B. abortus using
standard diagnostic tests so, not interference with
eradication program of Brucellosis using such test.
2. Eliminate costs associated with resting and trace backs
of false +ve reactors as in B. abortus st. 19 vaccine.
3. Not excrete in excretion and secretion of animals.
4. Used in all ages of the animals.
5. There is no any side effect on vaccinated animals.
6. Not protect animal infected with another species of
Brucella as Brucella melitensis
- Age: Female calves of 4 – 12 months.
- Adult non-pregnant female. (Cause abortion)
