In Russia, people write their wishes on
a paper on the New Year’s Eve and
burn it. The ashes of the burnt paper
are mixed with Champagne and are
drunk by the wisher. There is a belief
that their wish in this form will

Buddhist temples ring bells 108 times,
based on the belief that it brings
cleanliness.
It isn’t referring to the cleaning the junk
from homes. It is cleansing heart, mind,
soul, and body. 108 refers to the 108
types of earthly desires. It will help to
leave your sadness or frustration behind
and enter the new year with a clear mind
and happier resolutions.
