2. Concept of better progeny
• The newborn is such an important divine creature,
such a precious individual.
they don't want to compromise-
his capacity for growth,
his capacity for perfection, or
his capacity to contribute to the world.
• The idea is to have children with as many good
qualities as possible.
3. • The popularity of Garbh Sanskar is also because
researchers have proved its relevance and
importance in the development of the child.
• There are scientific evidences that prove that a
baby inside the mother’s womb responds to the
outside stimulus and has the ability to listen.
• Doctors and Experts also believe that there is a
significant effect of the hormonal secretions that
are activated by the thoughts of a mother on the
unborn baby.
POPULARITY
4. Planned Parenthood-Good Progeny
Ayurveda believes in
• physiological - Best quality of
Beej as well as
• psychological – Atma / jiva which is of
good deeds and
• Mentally preparation of Parents
for Motherhood ,
each aspect have been wisely considered for
achieving a better and desired Offspring.

5. • GARBHA –
The union of Shukra , Aartav and Atma or
Jiva inside the Kukshi is Known as
GARBHA
• SANSKAR –
“ Sanskaro hi gunaantaradhanam ”
Sanskar (Subconscious impression) is a
process of increasing the potential in
ourselves.
• It is said that “Sanskara (processing)” brings
the changes in the properties”.

Sanskar
6. The word sanskar has multiple meanings, such as – to
improve,
to purify,
to remove shortcomings in an
object and to endow a new.
In short, the process by which positive qualities in
man are developed and enhanced is known as
a sanskar.
Imparting sanskar = good values to the fetus.
7. • Describe the purpose of Ayurvediya

Garbhasanskar
Objectives
8. Ayurveda believes the desire for better progeny starts
even before person take the first steps on the road to
conception –i.e. even before marriage
Ayurvediya Garbha sanskar program basically
comprises of three stages :
I) Preconception (Beej sanskar)
II) During Pregnancy (Garbhasanskar)
III) Post Delivery (Bal sanskar)
11. The planning for better progeny starts even before
marriage.
• Marriage with ATULYAGOTRIYA and disease
free girl will avoid various hereditary disorders which
may affect the child ,because in these conditions
recessive gene become dominant
•SAMATVAGAT VIRYA -Mature age of man &
woman including physical and psychological both
areanessential factors for a good progeny..
12. • Many queries which are generally unanswered viz.
Blood group matching, hereditary history, prevention
of diseases etc. are clarified .
• Many of the Medical aspects give a proper guideline
for the expecting Mother & Father.
• Misconceptions are cleared through Garbhasanskar.
• is important. Many pregnant teens face difficulties
with health, money and education.
• Some women who get pregnant after age 40 have
added health problems. Also, there babies have a
greater risk of birth defects.
Pre-Marraige counseling
Age
14. • Women often get pregnant when they are not
planning to have baby. So, it is never too soon to
make her body a healthy home for baby.
•A large number of pregnancies are unplanned -
By the first antenatal visit, organogenesis is well
underway and interventions to avoid malformations
may be too late
•Understand this- before female get pregnant it is
the best time to make sure her body is ready.
Today
15. To have worthy child
BIRTH is not the place to start .
The true beginning and the most critical event is
clearly the moment of conception.
Great importance to general health of couple
(physical and psychological normalcy)
Parents only provide body to offsprings, special
qualities i.e. body complexion, intellect, strength,
energy etc. depends upon deeds and qualities of
parents, as well as deeds of previous life.
Various sanskaras , both the partners get prepared
for achieving a better and desired offspring.
Ayurveda
16. Four Essential Folds For Getting Pregnant
1. Rutu
2. Kshetra
3. Ambu
4. Bija
Ayurved gives importance to the quality of the seed of both the male
and the female.
In addition to the female seed, the mother also provides the 'soil,
nutrition and the right season' in the form of caring womb for the
seed to delicate embryo to grow for 9 months .
Hence, Ayurveda advises special attention to be paid to the nutrition
and protection of the woman.
18. According to Ayurveda, this reproductive tissue is the very
last tissue in our bodies to be created.
It is the most refined, most complete tissue after we
digest & process all the food, thoughts, and emotions that
we ingest.
As such, its perfection requires the best of the best—the
best food, the best thoughts, the best environment
Beej shuddhi (Shodhan sanskar) by Panchakarma with
various majors like anointment, sudation,emesis,purgation
etc so that Ovum (Matru beej) and Sperm (Pitru beej) are
in its best & purest form and devoid of any abnormalities or
genetic disorders.
19. •Dietary guidance- after purification the man should
consume ghritha and milk medicated with the drugs of
madhura group, while woman should use oil and mash,
because the madhura drugs increase sukra and pittala
drugs increase rakta.
•Associated treatments which enhance the internal
environment in the womb like Uttar basti, Pichu dharan
and Dhawan- ( day todays infertility issue of thin
endometrial lining , low AMH, cervical factors etc )
20. Womb Preparation
• It is a great way to prepare the body for pregnancy.
• Aids in regular natural detoxification of the organs
Helps to improve hormonal balance
Stress relief
increase quality of egg.
Improve Endometrial lining.
• Helps in all factors needed for conception by correcting
Psychology, Physiology ( Hormonal balance ultimately good
Ova at proper time ruptured naturally, Endometrial thickness
and Anatomy by breaking flimsy adhesions etc.
Garbhasanskar also plays important role in Infertility
management.
21. • There are many ART (Assisted reproductive
techniques) for building a family, including donor
eggs and in vitro fertilization, that some of
individual situations may call for.
• In those cases, this womb preparation still steps
as appropriate. Most of these steps still apply
since the cleansing and building also serve the
spiritual and emotional preparation that is
common to all routes.
• Womb preparation before going for IVF can
increase its success rate.
23. Garbhadhan
• The sacred ceremony for impregnation is known as
Garbadhana sanskara.
• Ideally the field is fertile to germinate the seed
through the preparatory purification, rejuvenation and
emotional practices.
• The scholars of Ayurveda have mentioned the process
for implantation of garbha and discussed under putreshti
yajna.
• With performance of putreshti yajna , the couple go for
the coitus, with enchanting of mantra.
• “ Aum ahirasi ayurasi sarvata pratishthasi dhaata
tvam, dadhaatu vidhaata tvam, dadhatu bramhavarcasa
bhavaBrahama brhaspatir vishnu soma surya tatha
asvinau Bhagotha mitra varunau veeram daddaatu me
sutaam ”
25. Healthy
Pregnancy • The ultimate goal of every pregnancy is to
achieve a “healthy pregnancy.”
• A “healthy pregnancy” has been defined as
a pregnancy without physical or
psychological pathology in the mother or
fetus, which results in the delivery of a
healthy baby.
Antenatal Care: Overview

Objectives
of
ANC
• Promote and maintain the physical, mental and
social health of mother and baby by providing
education on nutrition, personal hygiene and
birthing process
• Detect and manage complications during
pregnancy, whether medical, surgical or
obstetrical
• Develop birth preparedness and complication
readiness plan.
• Help prepare mother to breastfeed
successfully, experience normal puerperium,
and take good care of the child physically,
psychologically and socially
27. Every minute of every day, somewhere in
the world and most often in a developing
country, a woman dies from complications
related to pregnancy or childbirth.
That is 515,000 women, at a minimum,
dying every year. Nearly all maternal
deaths (99 percent) occur in the
developing world-making maternal
mortality the health statistic with the largest
disparity between developed and
developing countries.
1.
Safe
Motherhood
28. • Even thousands of years ago, Ayurved had stressed the
importance of safe motherhood.
• Ayurved describes the general management of pregnancy
under Garbhini Vyakaran.
• There are separate chapters for general management, special
management, diseases in pregnancy and their treatment and
so on.
• Rules concerning diet, activities, behavior and mental activity
(ahar, vihar, achar and vichar respectively) are also laid down.
• careful management of pregnancy: if a vessel filled with oil
right up to the brim is to be carried without spilling even a
single drop, every step has to be carefully watched. The same
is the case in the management of a pregnant woman.
29. Today, with a better understanding of the physio-
pathological processes and the advancement of allied
sciences, we can put together a safe motherhood
program
30. Baby grow from the size of a Poppyseed to pumpkin
to being a fully functioning human being, but every
tissue and organ of her body will grow out of what was
once just a single cell.
But there is far more to your baby's time in the womb
than simply growing physically.
All of the baby's senses are developing during his time
in the womb.
While sound will be his primary source of stimulation,
touch, vision, taste and even smell will also help his
brain to grow.
Until the advent of four-dimensional ultrasound
technology - enabling us to observe babies moving in
the womb in real time - ideas about a baby's
perceptions and experiences in the womb before were
extremely limited.
2.
Healthy
and
Intelligent
Baby
31. Stress, diet, and toxins may combine to have a harmful
effect on intelligence. A study by biostatistician Bernie
Devlin, Ph.D., of the University of Pittsburgh, suggests
that
Genes may have less impact on IQ than previously
thought and that the environment of the womb may
account for much more."There is an antenatal
environment, too, that is provided by the mother."
Parents-to-be who want to further their unborn child's
mental development should start by assuring that the
antenatal environment is well nourished, low-stress,
drug-free.
INTELLIGENCE

analysis. Br J Psychiatry. 2009;195(1):7–14. doi:10.1192/bjp.bp.108.051672. PMID 19567888.
33. Its widely accepted that the risk of a number of chronic
diseases in adulthood such as insulin dependent diabetes
mellitus, HTN & Coronary heart disease may have their
origin before birth.
Professor Dr. David Bruker - Professor in Cardiovascular
Medicine at OHSU , UK presented research which shows
low birth weight may be linked to disease later in life.
He showed that lower birth weight and weight at one year
are associated with an increased risk of death from CHD
and stroke.
It is important to keep the fetus nourished throughout
pregnancy

FOAD
34. The theory is that if nutrients are insufficient then
they will be diverted from organ development to
more important areas like brain development.
During the time an organ is developing it needs to
receive the correct nutrition or it may never develop
properly
FOAD HYPOTHESIS IS AN EYE-OPENER as it
suggests that several common degenerative
diseases could be prevented by improving maternal
health nutrition.

35. Garbhini Paricharya
Dietetic and certain other regimen advocated in
Samhitas for pregnant woman are of great significance.
• A Follow up of such regimen starting from first month of
pregnancy till the day of full term delivery,
I. fully takes care of the health of the mother, the growth
and development of the fetus and facilitates trouble free
parturition.
II. also helps in elimination of major waste products of the
body ,the metabolic changes, gives the relaxness of
genital and its surrounding viscera to accomodate the
gradual growth of the fetus and promotes the vigour
throughout the pregnancy.
Importance
36. Enlightening the merits Acharya Charak quotes –
‘Evam kurvati hi arogya-bala-varna-samvahana-
sampadam upetam jnatinam shreshtam apatyam
janayati’
If a pregnant woman is taken care of as advised, she will
give birth to a child who does not have any diseases –
and parents will have -
DESIRED , EXCELLENT, HEALTHY CHILD possessing
ALL QUALITIES and LONG LIFE.
He will be superior to all in the race.
38. • Paricharya-use of cold and sweet liquid diet and milk
• Garbhini- during first trimester most women experience
nausea and vomiting thus cannot take proper diet.
• Garbha- during first month Garbha is in Kalal form and so it
needs stability, Garbhaposhan is by only upasnehan nyaya
# Use of Cold and sweet liquid diet and milk will prevent
dehydration caused by vomiting and supply nourishment,
besides the drugs of madhura group being anabolic will help
in maintenance of proper health if mother and fetus.
Dravyas mentioned in paricharya are mostly kaphavardhak
and kapha is responsible for stability
Garbhaposhan is by upasnehan nyaya and for this the
'udakkarmana' this karma of kapha is useful.

46. World
in
the
womb
• One of the most important influences on
development is the fetal environment.
• As Harvard's Als observes, "The fetus gets an
enormous amount of 'hormonal bathing' through
the mother, so its chronobiological rhythms are
influenced by the mother's sleep/wake cycles, her
eating patterns, her movements.“
• The hormones a mother puts out in response to
stress also appear critical. DiPietro finds that
highly pressured mothers-to-be tend to have
hyperactive fetuses--and more irritable infants.
* Source: Psychology Today, Sep/Oct98, Vol. 31 Issue 5,
p44, 6p, 4c.
47. •Pregnancy is a unique state of
physiological stress which necessitates
physical, mental and social Adaptation.
•Almost all women experience stress at
some point during pregnancy.
•Studies shows, that very high level of
stress may contribute to an increased risk of
both mother and baby during pregnancy,
during labor & post delivery.
STRESS
* The Effects of Prenatal Stress on Child Behavioral and Cognitive Outcomes Start at the
Beginning

48. • Cortisol is the link between prenatal stress and
infant outcomes. Prenatal maternal stress is
associated with increased levels of cortisol in
mother.
• Pregnant women respond differently to identical
stressful stimuli, depending on genetic factors,
personality traits, previous experience and social
support.
• In addition, normal pregnancy is assosciated with
physical alterations, hormonal changes (often
associated with rapid change in mood), anxiety
regarding labor and fetal outcome, all of which
potentially worsen the stress response.
49. Problems due to stress
•Increased risk of premature delivery &
LBW babies
•Spontaneous abortion
•Birth defects
•Asymmetric growth retardation (IUGR)
•PIH, Pre-eclampsia.
•Autism, dyslexia and hyperactivity.
•Effect on mental Health
•Birth defects & malformations
•FOAD-Fetal origin of Adult disease
50. New research findings show that the first two
trimesters are the most sensitive to prenatal
stress.
Two periods are especially crucial:
• At week 10, the embryo become a fetus and it
begins to move. the vital organs now have
solid foundation.
During his time , the brain will produce almost
2,50,000 new neurons every minute.
This is called neurogenesis
When is a fetus most susceptible to prenatal
maternal stress?
51. • During week 24-and 30, nerve cell connections are
occurring .
Guided by chemical signals , nerve processes seek
out their target and establish contact.
Communication between neurons begins.
At birth, there are excess of nerve connections,
those that are not used will degenerate.
This is called synaptogenesis.
Exposure to extreme stress during these critical
periods of pregnancy will influence which developing
structures are affected and therefore determine the
physical , cognitive or behavioral outcome.
52. Yoga
• Yoga, uses a holistic approach to stress reduction
and has been used to promote positive health for
centuries in India.
• Various studies have examined the effects of yoga
in pregnancy and its outcomes, & concluded that
1. yoga during pregnancy is safe.
2. It improves birth weight.
3. Decreases preterm labor
4. Decreases IUGR either in isolation or
assosciated with PIH.
Pranayama

53. Pranayama
(Conscious Breath)
Pranayama (yogic breathing) involves the
voluntary control of the breath, and is practiced
widely in yoga and meditation, but is something
that anyone can do.
Slow Pranayama appears to shift the autonomic
nervous system from the fight or flight
sympathetic to the calming parasympathetic
state, and has been shown to positively affect
immune function, hypertension, asthma, and
stress-induced psychological disorders.

54. Pranayamas during Pregnancy
• Ujjayi breath (Victory breath)
• Full yogic breath
• Bhramari pranayama (Bee breath)
• Yoga Nidra
• Nadi Shodhan Pranaya (Alternate nostril
breathing technique)
After practicing these pranayama, follow it up with a
meditation will help relaxation.
55. Meditation
Meditation is a science and art of harmonizing
spiritual energy (energy of soul), mental energy
(energy of mind)
It is now known that the thoughts and emotions of
a mother during pregnancy greatly affect and
imprint the fetus that grows inside her. The
mother’s stress responses and tendencies begin
to teach the child before they are even born.
Meditation can be helpful for processing and
releasing negative habits and emotional patterns.
Meditation is one of the sweetest gifts a mother
can give to her child.
There are some PET scan photos where you can
see the change in the gray matter from one
hemisphere to the other in just a few minutes of
mediation.

57. • Vedic mantras is a great boon to the heart and body
mind and soul. The spiritual vibrations have a
refreshing and rejuvenating impact on our physical
mental faculties and enhance our spiritual faculties.
That is the reason why, in traditional Indian families,
the pregnant ladies are advised to read or recite
scriptures and Stotras like Bhagavad Gita, Sri
Rudram etc.
• They give good health, serenity and peace to the
mother and the energy of the mantras during this
formation stage will help the physical, emotional,
intellectual and spiritual growth of the child in the
womb and afterwards also.
58. • the word mantra in Sanskrit implies a specific
structure of sonic patterns – coded in
syllables and vowels, that works as an
spiritual tool to liberate the mind from
ignorance, illusion and evil instincts.
• When you recite a mantra, you touch the
palate with your tongue.
• In the palate, there are 84 meridian points, 64
in the hard palate and 20 in the soft palate
• Each sound has a different vibration and, as a
result, each mantra has a different effect.
Mantra
Man=Mind
e=now
Ta= energy force
Ra=sun
59. Vibration is a consistent, repeated, rhythmic pattern
of movement.
All vibrations are a “wave-form, with oscillations per
unit of time, call frequency”
BETA WAVES – 14 Hz to 20 Hz. Beta waves are
found in normal states of consciousness
ALPHA WAVES – 8 to 13 Hz. Alpha waves are
found in states of light meditation and day dreaming.
TETA WAVES – 4Hz to 7 Hz. These waves are
found in high states of creativity and in deep states
of meditation. This state is ideal for meditation.
DELTA WAVES – 5 Hz to 3 Hz. These waves are
found in states of deep sleep and unconsciousness,

60. One of the characteristics of the different sounds, mantras
and songs that are used to reach meditative states is that
they all have the same frequency as the Teta Waves, 4 to 7
Hz, or 3.5 beats per minute.
Studies conducted on Shamanic chants, Indian Ragas, and
some mantras and Tibetan chants show that they generally
have 3.5 beats per minute as well.
Our brain captures and copies the frequencies that it is
exposed to. Studies conducted on this subject have
discovered that people who expose themselves to this
frequency for 15 to 30 minutes a day do not have stress.
61.
62. Chanting “aaaaaaa”, one can feel the
sensation and hence resonance of
nervous system in the stomach and
chest region.
Chanting “ooooo” creates sensations
in throat & chest region and
resonates with them.
Similarly, chanting/humming “mmmm”
resonates with the nasal cavity as
well as skull/brain region
Om mantra is a brain stabilizer, within few minutes mind and body begin
to relax, negative thoughts are swept away, making healing at cellular
level.

66. Ways to develop baby’s intelligence inside the
womb
• Healthy food-omega 3 fatty acids, folic acid
• Stress removal-Emotional development and
IQ of the baby can be disrupted due to the
parental stress before birth.
• Playing music- baby is 23 weeks old, Soft
and mild classic music are appropriate for the
mother as well as unborn baby. This also
helps the baby in the womb to remain calm.
This will help build concentration in a baby
staying inside the mother’s womb.
• Touching baby from outside-important way of
stimulating a baby and help in its brain
development

67. A unique window of opportunity: 5 months'
gestation to 5 years of age
The fetal brain goes through several stages of
development.
During the first trimester, the nerve cells form, but are
not actually developed as a brain. Impulses begin to
fire without pattern or direction.
Sensory organs and nerves are not developed at this
point, so the fetus does not feel pain.
During this time, it’s especially important to avoid
chemicals and dangerous substances.
Healthy fats from natural foods and , folic acid are
especially important since nearly 70% of the new
tissues are fat based.
First
Trimester
68. • Nutritional deficiencies of folate cause neural tube
defects and several other diseases.
• Folate contents of brown rice varied substantially
from 13.3 to 111.4 μg/100 g, whereas milled rice
varied from 10.3 to 77.7 μg/100 g.
• Healthy fats from natural foods are especially
important since nearly 70% of the new tissues are
fat based -
• Ayurveda - milk, Butter, ghee , Rice gruel,
69. Second
Trimester During the second trimester, nerve functions
start to synchronize and differentiate.
The sensory organ begin development, as do
the nerves.
About the 5th month, the baby can now start to
feel, although the sensations they feel are very
limited and erratic.
Those healthy fats provide faster development,
and healthier nerve connections
70. Get Omega-3
Fish, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, may boost your
baby's brainpower.
In a study from Harvard Medical School, the
more fish women ate during the second
trimester, the higher their babies scored on a
mental-development test at 6 months of age.
Omega-3s are found in brain-cell membranes,
so there are plenty of ways they can influence
brain function

73. During the last trimester, the brain is forming
learning abilities and beginning memories.
This is a time where exposure to classical music
and soothing sounds will affect the child’s
disposition later in life.
Studies like the one led by Dr. Manrique have
suggested that it is possible to enhance the
development of the child's brain before birth.
Third
Trimester
74. Prenatal Stimulation Methods:
Prenatal stimulation is stimulation of the
your unborn baby by such methods as:
1. Stroking mother's belly-talking with baby
2. Soft and melodious sounds
3. Sound of the human voice, especially of
both parents
4. Light
5. Vibrations
.
75. What are the benefits of prenatal stimulation ?
Does it really work ?
Studies by leading child development researchers
such as Thomas R. Verny and Rene Van de Carr
have revealed that stimulated babies exhibit enhanced
visual, auditory, linguistic, and motor
development.
In general, they sleep better, are more alert,
confident, and content than infants who
were not stimulated. They also show superior
learning capacity and calm down when they hear
familiar sounds they heard while in the womb.

stimulation to the fetus in the womb encourages the
rapid development of the prefrontal lobe, which
actually facilitates easy and efficient learning
•.“These babies are three weeks ahead of their
counterparts in acquiring skills and knowledge and this
tendency seems to continue well into their lives,”
• All the women participating in her study also reported
that the music helped them to relax during pregnancy
and as soon as the music was played, the fetus
calmed down.”
77. Rhythmic sounds hastens neuronal growth
Book -The Hidden Message in Water by
Maseru Emoto, showed photographs of
water at a microscopic level.
The water was photographed after being
exposed to different sounds: classical
music, heavy metal music & with the
vibration of different words
Numerous studies show that the use of
music therapy successfully decreases
anxiety levels, reduces negative
expectations and relieves physical and
mental tension in expectant mums.
78. However, a technique called Pre-implantation Genetic
Diagnosis (PGD) leaves nothing to chance.
Women undergo IVF, eggs are fertilised. Then the embryos
are screened to see which genes they carry, and only those
that conform to the parents’ desire need be implanted.
This, according to experts is the future of making the
perfect baby.
“Scientifically, a woman could walk into clinic today and
PGD can give her a baby of the gender she desires, that
could guarantee didn’t have the genes for a host of
diseases, and in certain groups, with the eye colour the
parents wanted,” ethically still can’t do all those things.”
PGD
79. Legally only use PGD to help parents for choose for the
purpose of avoiding genetic diseases –
“The problem with things like intelligence and creativity is
that still they are not sure what emphasising one gene will
do to other elements of the personality,”
“Increasing the creative potential of a child may make
them more prone to mental health issues.”
The main requirement to transmit 'good values' is to
establish communication with the baby in the womb.
Intentional, directed, selfless, unspoken thoughts lead
to maximum sanskar on the foetus.
81. Prenatal Education and Childbirth Preparation
Class Internationally
•Normal labor, birth, and early postpartum period

•Healthy lifestyle
82. The Lamaze technique, also known as
the psychoprophylactic method or
simply Lamaze, started as a prepared
childbirth technique popularized in the 1940s
by French obstetrician Dr. Fernand Lamaze
The stated goal of Lamaze is to increase a
mother's confidence in her ability to give birth;
classes help pregnant women understand how
to cope with pain in ways that both facilitate
labor and promote comfort, including relaxation
techniques, movement and massage.

83. Bradley Method relies heavily on training fathers to be
labor "coaches", or partners. Bradley Method teachers
usually supplement these primary techniques with
training in different labor positions and comfort
measures. In order to master the ability to relax
completely as a pain relief tool, couples are taught
several different relaxation techniques and encouraged
to practice relaxation daily, so that the mother can rely
on a conditioned relaxation response to her partner's
voice and touch.
Bradley Method
84. Hypnobirthing
Gain an understanding of how the birthing
muscles work in perfect harmony–as they
were designed to–when mothers body is
sufficiently relaxed and she trust birth.
Mother will learn to use natural birthing
instincts for a calm, serene and
comfortable
85. Exercise
• Various studies have suggested
that an association may be
shown between increased
exercise during pregnancy and
a decreased risk of cesarean
delivery.
• Experts recommend that
pregnant women continue and
maintain an active lifestyle
during their pregnancy.
86. • Helps reduce backaches, constipation,
bloating, and swelling
• May help prevent preeclampsia gestational
diabetes
• Increases energy
• Improves mood
• Improves posture
• Promotes muscle tone, strength, and
endurance
• Helps to sleep better
• Improve ability to cope with labor.
Benefits
87. • As soon as the pregnant woman enters the ninth
month, she is supposed to move to the
Sootikagar (delivery area) which is specially
prepared for delivery.
• After an asthapan basti (simple enema), she
should undergo anuvasan basti (retention enema
of oil boiled with some herbs) which may be
repeated.
• Tampons soaked in the same oil are kept in the
vagina to make the pelvis soft and elastic, and
enhance the excretory functions of apan, vayu
(urination, defecation) and expulsion of the
foetus. The skin and nails become soft, and her
strength and complexion are rejuvenated.
Ayurveda
88. Use of Basti in 8th month will relieve constipation,
besides this will affect autonomous nervous
system governing myometrium and help in
regulating their function during labour
Oil Tampoon softens the vaginal passage and
destroy pathogenic bacteria so as to facilitate easy
labour and no infection to eyes of coming baby

89. Prenatal Yoga is perhaps most known for the physical benefits
that the yoga postures can provide.
Common ailments in pregnancy such as back aches, sciatica,
headaches, swelling, digestive upset, and fatigue can be helped
with yoga.
Numerous postures can also be used in labor (and leading up to
labor) to encourage optimal positioning of the baby and support
mother’s body in the process.
• Hip openers such as butterfly pose
• and lunges, such as archer pose
• Squatting has long been known to open the pelvic region and
is wonderful to practice throughout pregnancy, in preparation
for birth.
Yoga
90. The following Yoga poses can help to deal with
symptoms of pregnancy, ensuring smoother and
easier delivery, and faster recovery after childbirth.
•Sukhasana
•Marjariasana (Cat stretch)
•Vajrasana with ujjayi breath (Adamantine pose with
Victory breath)

92. • Sanskar like
Jatkarma, Lehan, Nadikalpan, Namakaran,
Annaprashan, Upaveshan, karnavyadhan,
Stanyaapanayan etc. Every Sanskar has its
own significance.
• Every Sanskar should be implemented at
different milestones of the newborn
• Vedic Methods of Immunisation –
Suvarna Bhasma, Vacha, Brahmi etc are some
medicines, which are used for the increasing
immunity of the baby.
93. Baby is born with most of the brain cells baby will
ever have, but during baby’s first 12 months in the
world, her brain will become increasingly complex.
By the time baby reaches the age of two, her brain
will already be 75 percent of its adult weight
By the age of three, it will have reached 90 percent of
its adult weight.
Almost 50 percent of the brain cells the baby is born
with will wither and die during the first few years of
life. This process, known as neural pruning, organizes
the brain and makes it more efficient.
Why teach
baby
early?
94. The brain learns through experience. Events in the
baby's life trigger electrical impulses to the brain,
establishing neural pathways.
The more a pathway is used, the more established it
becomes, making it less susceptible to pruning.
Just like a muscle, the brain works on the principle of
"use it or lose it."
