4. Wireless communication
We need highly sensitive software and controllers (i-e Zigbee or Z-ware) to bring
capability of communication in the smart-grid
Compatibility of 1G,2G and 3G in Smart devices (i-e inverter or converters)
There should be internet of thing (IOT)
6. Internet of Thing
Integration, Coordination, Communication and collaboration of real-word objects that
performs task in very intelligent is the process of Internet
Internet of thing is the communication of each device with one another
It controls and coordinate the smart devices
7. Smart Devices
smart devices need to have a set of capabilities including
1.Communication and cooperation
2.Addressability and identification
3.Sensing and actuation
4.Embedded information
5.Processing and user interfacing
13. Device Layers
Device layer is divided into two sub layers
The Thing Layer
It is responsible for sensing environment, collecting data & controlling home appliances
It consists of sensors, actuators, smart meters and e.t.c
The Gateway Layer
IT hosts the micro-controller, communication module, local storage, and display to which
component from thing layer are connected
14. Network Layer
This layer connects the device layer to the application layer
It consist of
1G/2G
3G/LTE
Wi-Fi
Cable/fibre
Power line communication
15. Cloud management Layer
This layer is also divided into two sub layers
The cloud layer
The layer where all the data store
The management layer
User management
Authentication
Data management
16. Application Layer
This layer is responsible to provide services to
End users
Homes
Owner
Smart grid
It hosts
Demand response management (DRM)
Dynamic pricing for smart grid system
Energy management
Home security for customer service
17. Protocols
Protocols enables all devices to communicate with one another with various features
IP Based Protocol
RESTful HTTP
CoAP
MQTT
XMPP
Non IP Based Protocol
Bluetooth
Z-ware
Zigbee
18. Merits & Demerits
Consumption of resources much more efficient
Provide more security
Provide demandable power
Less wastage of power
Smart device installations
More expensive
Useless for high power consumption
