How To Build The Future  Notes from Peter Thiel's "Zero to One"
1 to n = horizontal progress (copying things that work)
Go from 0 to 1  Make vertical progress (do new things)
Pay attention to the Power Law:  The extraordinarily stark pattern, in which a small few investments radically outstrip all other investments.
Competition is overrated.  Competition means no profits for anybody, no meaningful differentiation, and a struggle for survival.
Don't disrupt, get the last mover advantage.  Make the last great development in a specific market and enjoy years of monopoly profits.
Distribution is vastly underestimated among startup success factors.
Founders, and founding moments, are crucial to a company’s long-term success.  Thiel’s Law: A startup messed up at its foundation cannot be fixed.
Start small & monopolize  It's easier to dominate a small market than a large one.
Questions Every Business Must Answer   • Can you create breakthrough technology?  • Is now the right time to start your business?  • Are you starting with a big share of a small market?  • Do you have the right team
Questions Every Business Must Answer   • Will your market position be defensible 10 years into the future?  • Have you identified a unique opportunity that others don't see?  • Do you have a way to not just create but deliver your product?
