 In the spiral education approach,the first basic facts
of a subject are learned without worrying about details
 In spiral teaching the teacher moves upward but keeps
returning to the fundamentals
 It encourages the students to reinforce the subject in a
stepwise manner & teacher can also improvise on the
T/L methods based on the feedback

EVOLUTION OF MEU
 GRADUATE MEDICAL REGULATIONS,1997 has made it
mandatory to establish MEDICAL EDUCATION UNITS for
faculty development
 MCI has been regularly conducting FACULTY
DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES since 2009
 MCI selected 18 NODAL CENTRES for FDP
 FAIMER is also assisting in FDP
 Foundationfor Advancement of InternationalMedical Education & Research
 Training of the faculty has started since JAN 2019
ROLE OF MEU
 To arrange sensitisation programmes for all faculty
members regarding the principles of medical education
technology
 To initiate teachers to evolve educational strategies so that
the lacunae existing in the present system could be
minimised
 Help develop teaching & assessment methods
 Promote educational research
 Involve in programme evaluation & quality improvement of
the curriculum

use of SKILL LABS
 Curriculum Committee members to meet 6 times per

EVOLUTION OF MEU  GRADUATE MEDICAL REGULATIONS,1997 has made it mandatory to establish MEDICAL EDUCATION UNITS for faculty development  MCI has been regularly conducting FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES since 2009  MCI selected 18 NODAL CENTRES for FDP  FAIMER is also assisting in FDP  Foundationfor Advancement of InternationalMedical Education & Research  Training of the faculty has started since JAN 2019

ROLE OF MEU  To arrange sensitisation programmes for all faculty members regarding the principles of medical education technology  To initiate teachers to evolve educational strategies so that the lacunae existing in the present system could be minimised  Help develop teaching & assessment methods  Promote educational research  Involve in programme evaluation & quality improvement of the curriculum
