Importance of Dik (Direction) in Ayurveda

• The knowledge of direction is determined by its position in
relation to the sun.
• Though it is single, acco. to the difference in the direction
with reference to a particular place, it is of 10 types.

6. Importance of Disha in Ayurveda
It is the causative factor utilized in almost all branches of Ayurved
whether it is Dravyaguna or Striroga and Prasuti.
1. The wind coming from different directions has different effects on the
human being and also on the plants used in medicines. Like Eastern
wind- Ushna, Abhishyandi, poisoning effect.
2. For the starting of education and Upanayana east and north directions
are praised.

Satata jwara- Agneya
Dwitiyaka jwara- Vayavya
Tritiyaka jwara– Vaishwadeva
Chaturthaka jwara- Ishana
