PVR CINEMAS
PVR cinemas is a film entertainment
company in India. The company, which
began as a joint venture agreement
between Priya Exhibitors Private Limited
and Village Roadshow Limited in 1995 with
60:40 ratio, began its commercial
operations in June 1997. The company is
founded by Ajay Bijli , who is the Chairman.
PVR has a strong presence with 676 screens
in 145 locations across 59 Indian cities.

INTRODUCTION
• Oberon Mall is a shopping mall located in the
Indian city of Kochi.
• The mall was opened formally on 2 March 2009,
though it was launched in 2008.
• The cost of construction of the mall is about ₹1 billion.
• It is built on an area of 39,600 square metres
(426,000 sq ft) across five floors of shops and office
spaces and covering grounds of up to 6 acres (2.4 ha).
• The mall is one of the busiest shopping avenues for
the city of Cochin.
• Cinemax is on the fourth floor of the building

Building is divided in to five floors
including basement.
PVR cinemas is located on the
fourth floor( topmost floor)and
is away from other stalls and
showrooms.
Therefore:
• less crowd
• No congestion of spaces
• Circulation of the entire
mall made easier

MAIN LOBBY
• The main lobby of the complex
is slightly inset and the counters
face the corridor bringing in
notice of the people in the main
stream circulation.
• Ticket counter faces the corridor
space of the mall. There is no
separate lobby near the ticket
counter.

• Box office is along with the
counter outside the main the
main lobby .
• This space is also meant for
people to stand and watch the
movie trailers.
• The box office which face the
main corridor attracts the
people moving through the
mall.
MAIN ENTRY TO THE LOBBY
• Seating is provided in the right
side of the main entry.
• The two supporting columns in
the main lobby space are
cladded with tiles.
• Column near the food court
brings obstruction for free
circulation during peak times.

• Waiting lounge is provided
only within the theatre lobby.
• This sometimes creates
crowd near the ticket counter
during peak hours.
WAITING AREA
• Near the food counter adjacent
to waiting lobby queue tracks
are provided for handling the
crowd easily.
• Cinema posters clad the
columns near the counters.
• The area near the food counter is lit up
with warm golden yellow and red lights
• Seating is not provided near the food
counters and it is only meant for take
away counters
• The staff entry is
through narrow
corridor adjacent to the
food counter and is
restricted for outsiders.
• Each door is 2m wide.
• The exits are common
for two theatres each.
So the doors open to
the corridor and moves
to the main exit.
• There are only four screens
inside the complex
• Each of the screen is in a
higher level than the main
entry level
• The entries to the four
screens which open in to
stairs and are from foyer
which further leads to the
toilet and washrooms
• The main foyer directly views to a mirror and after the entries
to the screen diverts in to two corridors leading to the
washrooms for ladies and gents respectively. so there is
minimum circulation to the washrooms without creating a
crowd in the foyer during peak hours.
• The corridors are placed such that the people of shot term
waiting lounge are not encouraged there. It is meant for the
people watching the movie.
• •The exits are common for two theatres each. So the doors
open to the corridor and moves to the main exit.

• The office have a separate entrance from the
exterior but connected with the main lobby
by means of narrow corridor .
• Enables the staff and visitors to enter the
space during peak time the store room rest
room and, locker for the staff Oberon mall.

• The 4 screens have different layout of
seating arrangements
• All four screen are having silver screen
• 7.1.2 Dolby atmos
• Box type theatre( A theatre in which the
audience seating and screen occupy the
same architectural space)

SEATING SIZE
• Back moulded polyurethane seats.
Customized uphoistered , plywood or
perforated polypropylene and glass fibre
moulded back which is good for
acoustics.
• Legs are moulded aluminium epoxy finish
for aesthetic improvement as well as
cleaning and maintenance.

• The projector room is in the floor just above the screen room, which is about
at a height of 3.5 m.
• The access to the room is from the terrace.
• The dimension is about 19x4 m sq.

• To maintains a temperature OF 20 degree celsius.
• Maintain the temperature thermocol ceiling is used.
• The main activity spaces for a projector room:- (1) projector -2k (6)
engineer seating (2) server (7) sound system- cd 750 (3) electricity source
(8) power generator (4) ahu pipes (5) seating/computer.

ROOM
• The exhaust pipes have connection towards the ahu,
which is outside the projector room.
• The pipes are silver coated.
• The projector room can only be accessed after
passing the security check which is inn the next floor.
• The ambience is dark inside it.
• The opening for the projector covered with glass is
of dimensions 100 cm.

• The old film projector was last used about 2
years ago.
• Port holes are also given so as to check the
sound quality or to give instructions to the
people inside the screen room.
• It controls all the lighting facilities.
• The glass infront of the projector must be
tilted in order to reduce the reflection of film
rays.
SILVER SCREEN
• A silver screen also known as a silver ventricular
screen, A type of projection screen having highly
reflective surface.
• Made from a tightly woven fabric mainly silk or
synthetic fibre.
• Provide narrower/horizontal/vertical viewing
angles.
• Compare to their more modern counterparts
because their inability to completely disperse
light.
• Used in 3-D projection.

• Picture format is Cinemascope

PARKING
• Parking of the cinemas
along with the mall
parking lots.
• Oberon Mall has
parking slots for over
500 cars and 400 two
wheelers, spread over
the 2 basements and 3
grounds.
EXITS
• They are given at the same wall as that of
the screen.
• The doors of two screen rooms open to a
single corridor. which is the same in the
other side.
• The corridor width is about 2.5 m.
• The fire escape exit is the same one.
• Can cause huge crowds after the show
times since the corridors are narrower.
EXITS
• Ads are even given in the corridor.
• The exit directly to connects to the
mall floor level.
• There is no direct connection to the
parking area.
• No provision for wheelchair visitors.
• Aims a smaller crowd.

  • 3. PVR CINEMAS PVR cinemas is a film entertainment company in India. The company, which began as a joint venture agreement between Priya Exhibitors Private Limited and Village Roadshow Limited in 1995 with 60:40 ratio, began its commercial operations in June 1997. The company is founded by Ajay Bijli , who is the Chairman. PVR has a strong presence with 676 screens in 145 locations across 59 Indian cities.

INTRODUCTION • Oberon Mall is a shopping mall located in the Indian city of Kochi. • The mall was opened formally on 2 March 2009, though it was launched in 2008. • The cost of construction of the mall is about ₹1 billion. • It is built on an area of 39,600 square metres (426,000 sq ft) across five floors of shops and office spaces and covering grounds of up to 6 acres (2.4 ha). • The mall is one of the busiest shopping avenues for the city of Cochin. • Cinemax is on the fourth floor of the building
  • 7. LOCATION Located near NH Bypass Edapally junction, Ernakulam , Kochi, Kerala N
  • 8. PLANNING Building is divided in to five floors including basement. PVR cinemas is located on the fourth floor( topmost floor)and is away from other stalls and showrooms. Therefore: • less crowd • No congestion of spaces • Circulation of the entire mall made easier

MAIN LOBBY • The main lobby of the complex is slightly inset and the counters face the corridor bringing in notice of the people in the main stream circulation. • Ticket counter faces the corridor space of the mall. There is no separate lobby near the ticket counter. Space outside forming the part of the complex
  • 13. MAIN LOBBY • Box office is along with the counter outside the main the main lobby . • This space is also meant for people to stand and watch the movie trailers. • The box office which face the main corridor attracts the people moving through the mall.

MAIN ENTRY TO THE LOBBY • Seating is provided in the right side of the main entry. • The two supporting columns in the main lobby space are cladded with tiles. • Column near the food court brings obstruction for free circulation during peak times. Waiting area Glass with view towards the corridor outside making the waiting area more spaicous
  • 15. • Waiting lounge is provided only within the theatre lobby. • This sometimes creates crowd near the ticket counter during peak hours. WAITING AREA
  • 16. • Near the food counter adjacent to waiting lobby queue tracks are provided for handling the crowd easily. • Cinema posters clad the columns near the counters. • The area near the food counter is lit up with warm golden yellow and red lights • Seating is not provided near the food counters and it is only meant for take away counters
  • 17. • The staff entry is through narrow corridor adjacent to the food counter and is restricted for outsiders. • Each door is 2m wide. • The exits are common for two theatres each. So the doors open to the corridor and moves to the main exit.
  • 18. • There are only four screens inside the complex • Each of the screen is in a higher level than the main entry level • The entries to the four screens which open in to stairs and are from foyer which further leads to the toilet and washrooms
  • 19. • The main foyer directly views to a mirror and after the entries to the screen diverts in to two corridors leading to the washrooms for ladies and gents respectively. so there is minimum circulation to the washrooms without creating a crowd in the foyer during peak hours. • The corridors are placed such that the people of shot term waiting lounge are not encouraged there. It is meant for the people watching the movie. • •The exits are common for two theatres each. So the doors open to the corridor and moves to the main exit.

The store room, locker room and rest room for the staff • The office have a separate entrance from the exterior but connected with the main lobby by means of narrow corridor . • Enables the staff and visitors to enter the space during peak time the store room rest room and, locker for the staff Oberon mall.

AUDITORIUM • Number of screens – 4 • The 4 screens have different layout of seating arrangements • All four screen are having silver screen • 7.1.2 Dolby atmos • Box type theatre( A theatre in which the audience seating and screen occupy the same architectural space) • 2k projector • Led lighting

  • 26. SEATING SIZE • Back moulded polyurethane seats. Customized uphoistered , plywood or perforated polypropylene and glass fibre moulded back which is good for acoustics. • Legs are moulded aluminium epoxy finish for aesthetic improvement as well as cleaning and maintenance. SEATING MATERIALS
  • 27. PROJECTOR ROOM • The projector room is in the floor just above the screen room, which is about at a height of 3.5 m. • The access to the room is from the terrace. • The dimension is about 19x4 m sq.

PROJECTOR ROOM • To maintains a temperature OF 20 degree celsius. • Maintain the temperature thermocol ceiling is used. • The main activity spaces for a projector room:- (1) projector -2k (6) engineer seating (2) server (7) sound system- cd 750 (3) electricity source (8) power generator (4) ahu pipes (5) seating/computer.

PROJECTOR ROOM • The exhaust pipes have connection towards the ahu, which is outside the projector room. • The pipes are silver coated. • The projector room can only be accessed after passing the security check which is inn the next floor. • The ambience is dark inside it. • The opening for the projector covered with glass is of dimensions 100 cm.

PROJECTOR ROOM • The old film projector was last used about 2 years ago. • Port holes are also given so as to check the sound quality or to give instructions to the people inside the screen room. • It controls all the lighting facilities. • The glass infront of the projector must be tilted in order to reduce the reflection of film rays.

SILVER SCREEN • A silver screen also known as a silver ventricular screen, A type of projection screen having highly reflective surface. • Made from a tightly woven fabric mainly silk or synthetic fibre. • Provide narrower/horizontal/vertical viewing angles. • Compare to their more modern counterparts because their inability to completely disperse light. • Used in 3-D projection. PICTURE FORMAT • Picture format is Cinemascope 2.35:1
  • 32. PARKING • Parking of the cinemas along with the mall parking lots. • Oberon Mall has parking slots for over 500 cars and 400 two wheelers, spread over the 2 basements and 3 grounds.
  • 33. EXITS • They are given at the same wall as that of the screen. • The doors of two screen rooms open to a single corridor. which is the same in the other side. • The corridor width is about 2.5 m. • The fire escape exit is the same one. • Can cause huge crowds after the show times since the corridors are narrower.
  • 34. EXITS • Ads are even given in the corridor. • The exit directly to connects to the mall floor level. • There is no direct connection to the parking area. • No provision for wheelchair visitors. • Aims a smaller crowd.
