3. ART OF ANY TYPE
MUSIC, DANCE, DRAWING, PAINTING, SCULPTING, WRITING
If you want to find more creativity, satisfaction, and happiness, the single best solution I know is adding
more art to your life.
Music has been a big part of my life since I was a young boy, though my tastes have broadened a lot
since I was first learning sr re ga ma pa on my harmonium
Art is indispensable. Art gives us meaning. There are things that cannot be understood with pure reason—
like love and beauty, to name two. Art helps us understand our world.
THE COOL THING IS THAT CREATIVITY WORKS LIKE A MUSCLE; THE MORE WE USE IT, THE STRONGER IT
GETS.
4. HINDUSTANI CLASSICAL MUSIC
The Classical Music of India, has evolved over thousands of years and has become
one of the most beautiful music in the world.
Voice culture is a way to refine the skills through learning traditional compositions and
methods of improvisation to engage in ―swara-sadhana” (tone culture meditation)
through singing.
The Artists and Music students should not show any undue haste to ascend the concert
platform until the voice is ready by rigorous voice training method and totally trained
to merge with the correct ―Swara & Tala.
5. MUSIC & NOISE
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MUSIC AND NOISE? MUSIC IS ORDERED
SOUND. NOISE IS DISORDERED SOUND.
Music and noise are both mixtures of sound waves of different frequencies.
When something feels right with our inner spirit, we say it resonates or rings true.
Resonance is the reverberation of truth. Resonance means a rich sound, a lasting
presence of effect.
Modern Technology
Testing sound waves of different frequencies.
6. MELODIOUS VOICE
V – vibrant - full of energy; lively
O – open - un-cloaked, un-guarded and not holding back
I – intentional - when we lack clear intention before we sing, most of us open our
mouths and wait for a stream of notes to fall out.
C – conversational - if we are singing in an auditorium full of people, a
conversational style will engage people more, and also demonstrate our respect
for the audience
E – emotionally expressive - allow our positive emotions and our inner smile to
touch our eyes and touch our voice. This will bring a warmth and softness to the
voice, which is the vocal expression of happiness, sharing and good-will.

9. RIYAAZ
Throughout my musical journey, riyaaz was a critical and important aspect towards its growth, nurturing and
development. Loosely translated, riyaaz is to create discipline with vocal/instrumental music through its daily
practice and repetition. Think of it as the act of rehearsing over and over for the purpose of mastering it, as in
the phrase “practice makes perfect”.
With daily riyaaz, one’s voice matures, becomes more refined, sophisticated, smooth, gentle, on “sur” (perfect
pitch and tonality).
Yes, there are only 24 hours in a day, yes you need 7-8 hours of sleep, yes you have to work, yes you might have
a family, kid’s etc. The key is discipline and dedication. Allow these 2 word’s to become the center of your
focus. Riyaaz is fuelled by these 2 virtues. Once ignited, you will find that indeed, 24 hours is enough time in a
day to do many things.
