 Although Kerrang magazine is not a rap
magazine, the Masthead of the magazine is
made to look like it has sort of “cracked” or
“broke” which also shows how “diehard” the
magazine itself is. I tried to make my
Masthead as “rough” and “hard-core” I could
and therefore named my magazine “Rough”.
It is sort of shows the background of my
magazine as my magazine is a rap magazine
and the title show the “coolness” of it. Unlike
the other Mastheads in all the other rap
magazines, my masthead is not covered up
by my rap artist. I think if I was to make my
artist cover up a bit of he masthead, it would
have made my magazine overall much more
“cool” and “hardcore”. The other mastheads
in all the other rap magazines are big and
bold whereas my one is in a “fancier” font
than theirs that is another thing that is different
    from my rap magazine.
 The magazines on the left side are
examples of different types of rap
    magazines. The colour scheme of
most of the rap magazines are usually
a dark red colour and white, the red
    indicates the “hard-core-ness” of the
    rap magazines and the white
    represents the coolness. The colour
scheme of my magazine was mainly
red and white but I did add other
colours but with purpose. The dark
blue was used every time the name
of my rapper was mentioned; to
    show the “rough-ness” and
“seriousness” of my rapper. I different
colours on the front cover of my
magazine depending on the topic I
was talking about to present each
topic. It also makes my magazine
front cover more effective and stands
out from other rap magazines. I did
the same in the contents page and
also used the colour black for the
article about my rapper and for the
    message board on the contents
page to make that more effective
    too.
 I used different types of fonts through out
my magazine. Arial was my main font
because it was very easy to read and also
very simple. Also it is not as fancy as other
fonts, my magazine genre is a little “serious”
so this font went quite well with it. I used a
“Black oak standard” to introduce my artist. I
also used capital letters most of my time
during the construction of my magazine to
make it bold and stand out. I used the Apple
casual font for the Masthead of my
magazine, also this font doesn‟t sound very
„hard‟ or doesn‟t really match up to the
genre of my magazine, and I didn‟t test it
out for the font testing but this font went
quite well with my masthead. As it does
make it look quite “Rough”. The “caps lock”
on my magazine are vaguely similar to what
other rap magazines have as their fonts are
all in caps lock to. In many other
magazines, he font “Arial” is used as it is
very easy to read and effortless as well, this
is why I chosen that font to use to type up
my article about my rap artist with.
 My style of photography has
    been done very differently to
    how other magazines edit
    their photography. As you
can see, the photos on the
    examples of rap magazines,
    their photos haven't really
been edited like the way I
have done mine. I have used
    special effects to add more
    effect to my magazine to
make it a little more “hard”.
    The photos on these
    magazines have only been
    edited out of their
    backgrounds whereas I have
    kept the backgrounds left on
    my pictures and I have
    edited my pictures on
    Photoshop to make my
    magazine look “hardcore”
    and “cool”.
 I have really done anything for my
page numbers to be different to
any other magazine numbers as I
have just put them at the bottom
corners of my double page spread.
    In most magazines, page numbers
are either at the top corners of
pages or at the bottom corners of
pages. I have also made my page
numbers red to link in with my colour
scheme of my magazine. I have
noticed that for their page numbers,
    Kerrang magazine have added
their magazine name before or after
their page numbers to make their
magazine a bit more different and
stand out to any others where as for
my magazine, I have just left it with
    the page numbers.
 The pull quotes I have
    done and made for my
    magazine are not as
    “eye – catching” and
    “noticeable” unlike real
    magazines. I have done
    pull quotes on my front
    cover as I quoted my
    made up rap artist and
    another artist but unlike
    actual magazines, I
    didn‟t do a shape
    around my quotes to
    make it more obvious
    and visible to my target
    audience.
 The writing style of my double
    page spread is made as
realistic as possible as I added
a few mini jokes while the
    interview is going on. This
    shows that rap artists feelings
    and expressions. While writing
this article for my double page
spread, I was sort of trying to
make my interview as real as
    possible and so therefore tried
    to express the artists “feelings”
in writing. This double page I
    have found from the Kerrang
    magazine have just done a
    little article about a
    comeback from a band
where as to show my „writing
    style‟, I did an interview.
