The various climatic changes taking place in various Rutus, changes equilibrium

• As Vatha Dosha is the main vehicle for all entities in the body, similarly Basthi is main
therapy in Chikitsa, but its equally effective in rectifying abnormal accumulation of Vatha
associated with Pitta and Kapha doshas also.
• Basthi takles all Doshas and has action on Malas, Dhatus, Srotas and Rogamarga.
• The main seats of action of Basthi Dravyas is Pakvashaya.
82. • All types of Shodhna are contra-indicated in Pregnancy except Anuvasana as it
Strengthens the Pelvic Muscles during Parturition.
• Prevention aspect includes both i.e., to prevent occurrence of disease and also to
prevent recurrence of the diseases and Basthi being one among the Shodhana
Karmas treats the diseases at its root level and prevents its recurrence.
