FAMILY BACKGROUND:

Nandan Manohar Nilekani was born in Sirsi town in
Karnataka.

Mohan Rao Nilekani(Father).

His father worked as a General Manager of Mysore and
Minerva Mills.

He has an elder brother, Vijay, who works in the Nuclear
Energy Institute.
EDUCATION
He studied at St. Joseph's High School Dharwad,

Studied at the Bishop Cotton Boys' School, Bangalore

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai where
he graduated with a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering in
1978.

HISTORY OF INFOYSIS
Infosys was founded on 2 July 1981

By seven entrepreneurs: N. R. Narayana Murthy, Nandan
Nilekani, Kris Gopalakrishna, S. D. Shibulal, K. Dinesh, Ashok
Arora, & N. S. Raghavan.

They started the company with an initial investment of INR
(Indian National Rupees) 10,000.

The company was incorporated as "Infosys Consultants Pvt
Ltd.”

 Infosys was rated for best employer to work in 2000, 2001,
and 2002
Infosys has the largest corporate education center in the
world at Mysore. It can accommodate 14000 candidates
at one time.




Charity
  In 2005, Infosys donated Rs.10 million to help the
  effects of the 2005 Kashmir earthquake in Pakistan.

CAREER
After graduating from IIT Bombay in 1978, he joined
Mumbai-based Patni Computer Systems.

where he was interviewed by N.R. Narayana Murthy.

 Three years later, in 1981, Murthy walked out of Patni
following a disagreement with one of the Patni brothers.
So his entire division walked out with him. And the
defectors decided to start their own company, infosys
Nilekani became the Chief Executive Officer of Infosys in
March 2002.

Nilekani served as CEO of the company from March 2002 to
April 2007.

He left Infosys on 9 July 2009.

And serve as the chairperson of the Unique Identification
Authority of India(UIDAI).

He co-founded India’s National Association of Software and
Service Companies (NASSCOM).
HONOURS AND AWARDS
Member of the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of
Technology (IIT) Delhi

Forbes “Businessman of the Year” from Asia in 2007.

Padma Bhushan, one of the highest civilian honors awarded
by the Government of India - 2006.

He Received the 'Legend in Leadership Award' by the Yale
University in November 2009. He is the first Indian to receive
the top honour.
In 2003 he also received ‘Asia’s Businessmen of the Year’
award from Fortune magazine’s.

‘World’s most respected business leaders’ in 2002 and
2003, according to a global survey by Financial Times.
