  1. 1. J.R.R Tolkien AUTHOR Rameen Kamran | Class 8-T | 10th August, 2020
  2. 2. PAGE 1 To: Dawn Newspaper Editor One of our most renowned writer, linguistic and phlogist from late 1800s, John Ronald Ruel Tolkien, was a man of fantastical mind represented by written works; author of the epic fantasy works like The Hobbit and Lord of The Rings. This remarkable man is behind the languages and creatures of an extraordinary universe. A brilliant linguist and fantasy writer. Tolkien’s Family originated in the East Prussian. He was born on 3rd January, 1892, in Bloemfantein, South Africa, when poverty had covered the region. Tolkien took a vast interest in learning and inventing new languages, like. Tolkien could read by the age of four and could write fluently soon afterwards. He was home schooled until he was 12. That was when his mother died and he was sent to live with a Catholic priest, Fr. Francis Xavier Morgan. He knew 35 different tongues, both ancient and modern. Tolkien himself, invented a new and more complex language called Nevbosh. The next constructed language he came to work with, Naffarin, would be his own creation.Around 10 June 1909 he composed "The Book of the Foxrook", a sixteen-page notebook. Tolkien became a devout Roman Catholic. He married Edith Mary, an Englishwoman in 1916. Tolkien completed The Lord of the Rings in 1948, close to a decade after the first sketches. The Hobbit was just one of the stories he created. Originally written for his children, it came to the attention of a publisher and was an instant hit with young and old. Tolkien created an entire world for his stories, Arda, where Middle Earth is located. He also made an entire language for them called "Elvenlatin". During his life in retirement, from 1959 up to his death in 1973, Tolkien received steadily increasing public attention and literary fame. Both Tolkien's academic career and his literary production are inseparable from his love of language and philology. He died on 2nd September , 1973. After his death, he received the Hugo award and the Locus award for the best dramatic presentation and Best Fantasy Novel.
