cricket without any first-class experience.

whole English sporting history. He was the last player to achieve a
certain feat. (There were 11 more people prior to him to achieve this
feat).
His first class career spanned over 25 years and managed to play 6 test
matches as well. It is very unlikely to have his place taken by someone
else as the selection criteria became tougher and there is a high
availability of players for every sport.

successful test captain in history with 41 victories and a winning ratio of
72%. However his initial days were not so good as he started with four
consecutive ducks making him earn a very appropriate nickname.
