THE HEAD & THE HEART DELIVERY-FOCUSED
HOW WE USE THE VALUES
Keyot’s Product Values serve as
an active filter through which
we view all aspects of
Transformation.
The mechanics of delivering
work via Agile Frameworks like
Scrum are not difficult to learn.
Changing Enterprise processes
which have been in place for
years, organizing in new ways,
and every layer of an
organization embracing new
mindsets is tough.
Establishing a clear set of
values which accompany your
ongoing change effort is a
critical first step in the process.
They are a non-threatening way
to enable personal
accountability at all layers of the
organization.
IF WE ARE UNABLE TO ALIGN A SHARED SET OF VALUES, WE HAVE ALREADY FAILED.
9. What Makes a
Great PM?
Soft skills and other less-tangible
assets that a great PM hire has.
Flexibility
Great PMs can roll with the punches without devolving into
chaos.
Ownership & Accountability
PMs are responsible for the whole outcome: not just what falls
under the “product” RACI. People who think like a business
owner are more effective than those with perfect process.
Curiosity
Great Product leaders always want to know why something is
the way it is: whether that’s technology, business process or
experience design. A desire to learn signals a capability for
evolution and growth that is directly tied to more effective PMs.
Humility
It is not unusual to run across jerks in Product. The hunger for
growth can have a dark side that manifests as an ego. Great
PMs assume they and their products can always be better.
They elevate and respect the team, and encourage a team
culture of sink or swim together.
