High Staff Turnover
• Most employees are new but the business is not
• High staff turnover is always a worrying sign
• Why does the company have such a difficult time retaining
good employees?
Management Bad Mouthing Employees
• The interviewer complains about their existing staff when they
first meet you
• Already bad mouthing staff to a candidate who might turn into
a part of the team, quickly flags up an authoritarian boss
Blurred Job Descriptions
• Random catchwords & baffling phrases are never good they may
propose a company that does not have a clear idea how they want
to utilize you
• You could be the target of filling several roles simultaneously
• The list of responsibilities will be huge & constantly increasing
• Additional tasks seem to have nothing to do with the primary job
itself
Overselling The Job
• Overselling a job means that it is usually too good to be true
• The job description is vague
• They have not questioned if you have the relevant
experience
Job Position Vacant For Long
• Do you keep seeing that same job advertised over and over ?
• Job position vacant for a long time probably means
something, something bad
No Mention of Long-Term Career Goals
• No discussion of a route for career progression? You can do
better than a dead job
• The job duties are blurred or your interviewers cannot state
what success in the role will look like
Vague Contract
• The paperwork paints a different picture
• You had agreed upon a certain salary, perks, start date or a
number of vacation days, but the contract or paperwork you
received did not replicate what you discussed
• This could be a sign that you cannot rely on your employer to
follow through on promises
Rushing You To Make A Decision
• Employers rushing you to make a decision?
• If u feel you are being desperately hurried or stressed in any way to
take the job, be cautious
• There might be valid reasons the employer may want to rush things
along, but it might be a red flag that you could be walking into
something unexpected
• In majority of cases desperation on the employer's part is a danger
sign
Body Language of Employees
• Look at the employees you pass by & check their expressions &
body language
• Do they look like they really want to be there? That could be you if
you take the job
• Employees seem unhappy, tired or bored
• How do employees act around the boss when he speaks? If they are
looking at the floor & behave like they do not want to be there, then
it either says he is dictatorial or an embarrassment of an leader
Employer Demands Money
• Your potential employer requires money from you to begin
working here
• This could be a clear indication that the company is already
on the ropes
