creating an environment where race, different perspectives,
ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, and different
beliefs are socially and culturally accepted, respected, and
appreciated.
14. Inclusion starts
with ‘’I’’
“One person can accept
another’s differences as
strengths and start a chain
reaction. Inclusion starts
with “I”.’’https://youtu.be/ceruifzy_xk
Question: Are you
inclusive?
15. Why is inclusion
important?
Inclusion is important because it:
• Promotes respect for others.
• Promotes positive self-image and boost self-esteem.
• Allows individuals from different backgrounds to achieve their full
potential.
• Enforces good values
• Helps us value diversity
• Creates a common ground between individuals. For example, we see the
person first before we can see the disability, race, gender, ethnicity, etc.
16. Difference between DIVERSITY and INCLUSION
DIVERSITY INCLUSION
• Diversity is simply a representation of
many different types of people
(gender, race, ability, religion, etc.).
• Diversity focuses on the differences
and similarities that people have.
• Diversity is when you acknowledge
that there are different(diverse)
people in your team.
• Inclusion is the deliberate act of
welcoming, valuing, and appreciating
diversity and creating an environment
where all different kinds of people can
thrive and succeed.
• Inclusion is when the diverse people in
your team feel safe, welcomed,
supported, and encouraged to fully
participate and be on equal footing as
everyone else.
17. Therefore:
Diversity is a fact ( Race,
gender, etc.)
Inclusion is a behavior( The
act/ Practice of diversity)
18. Discussion: How has DIVERSITY
affected you?
Have you ever had a
good or bad
experience with
circumstances
involving diversity?
Example: A
misunderstanding
due to a language
barrier(language
