aviation, mining, media, maritime studies and or even just
sport

Tertiary Study Funders
 Scholarships
 Scholarships and bursaries are very similar. Scholarships focus
on a particular area, such as academics, sports, cultural. And
just like bursaries, scholarships are for paying your tuition
 Bursaries
 fixed amount of money given to someone to help pay for their
studies. This is usually given to people who can’t afford further
studies but show commitment to their studies. Bursaries differ
in amounts.
 the money is not required to be paid back, but there may be
an agreement of some sort – usually regarding maintenance of
high marks

Tertiary Study Funders
 Student loans
 Student loans are not very different from normal bank loans.
 The bank lends you money, fully expecting you to pay it back, with
interest.
 You usually pay the loan back only once you start working but must
pay the interest on the loan every month while studying.
 You need to apply annually, and banks may choose not to renew your
loan if your studies are neglected.
 The benefit of loans are that the money can be used however you see
fit, as opposed to being used only for tuition.

Tertiary Study Funders
 University financial aid
Universities do try to supply financial aid in the
form of bursaries, scholarships and loans.
This aid may be withdrawn should your academic
performance decline

  • 11. Tertiary Study Funders  Student loans  Student loans are not very different from normal bank loans.  The bank lends you money, fully expecting you to pay it back, with interest.  You usually pay the loan back only once you start working but must pay the interest on the loan every month while studying.  You need to apply annually, and banks may choose not to renew your loan if your studies are neglected.  The benefit of loans are that the money can be used however you see fit, as opposed to being used only for tuition. https://static.pexels.com/photos/901962/pexels- photo-901962.jpeg
