announced the
scheme PMJDY.
It is also known as
people”s wealth
scheme.
The key person of
this scheme is Arun
jaitley.
The scheme was
launched on 28th
august 2014.
15 crore bank
accounts were open
under this scheme.
Almost Rs 665 billion
were deposited
under this scheme.

6. AIM OF PMJDY
Introduction of new branches of banks in
different areas.
People taking loans from banks, rather
than local money lenders.
Making cashless economy.
To decrease corruption in the country.
It covers both urban & rural areas.
7. Performance of PMJDY
By September 2014,3.02 crore accounts were open
under this scheme.
On 20 jan. 2015 the scheme entered into Guinness
book of world record.
The balance in jan dhan accounts rise by more
Rs 270 billion between 9th nov.and 23th 2016.
8. Special benefits from PMJDY
Account will be open at “zero” balance.
Accidental insurance which covers of Rs 1 lakh.
Over draft facility upto rs 5000.
The scheme provide life cover of Rs 30000 payable on death.

10. Demonitisation effects on PMJDY
November alone witnessed deposits of Rs 2987 crore which is
among one of the highest in the country.
Jan dhan accounts with total balance of Rs 3390 crore in mid
September, which is 3rd highest in the country during that period.
In order to check the miss use of jan dhan accounts by black
money holders RBI restricted the withdrawal Rs 10000/month.
