“UN Live is a platform which, through culture, tackles the subjects
and conflicts UN is engaged in. Today, there’s probably no one over
ten years who hasn’t heard of climate change. But there’s quite a leap
from having heard about it to gaining a physical experience of it.
Culture is a language that enables us to talk about subjects that can
seem abstract. One of its foremost qualities is that it makes its subject
visceral. I have great faith in UN as a system, but it fails to make itself
understandable to ordinary people. That’s why the very important
agendas of UN need to be expressed in new ways.

It’s easier for me to express my emotions
through images or drawings, because then I
don’t have to explain everything. And then
other people can make their own sense of it
and relate to it in their own way.
It’s like art changes character when you can
touch it with your own hands. You’re able to look
at it up close. It means a lot to be able to hold
the art between your hands and touch it.

The creative process is an icebreaker that enables them to put into words
and/or images the difficult emotions they feel or are confronted with in others,
helping them grow and show empathy
