For which jala is ayu is jalayuka.
That which resides in jala is jalauka.
पयााय : jalagi ,jalargi, jalasika, jalasarpini.

Classification of jalouka based on sex .
Acc(As.san.su35/4).
Sthree jalouka-delicate,having thin skin,small sized head,larger lower body,it can be used
in alpa dosha and acute disorders
Purusha jalouka –hard skin,big head along with being semi lunar or ardha chandrakara in
shape.

Habitat:originates in the decomposed
urine and fecal matter of toads and
poisonous fishes,in pondsof stagnant and
turbid water.
Habitat:originates in decomposed
vegetable matter,in the putrified stems of
the several aquatic plants known as
padma,utpala,nalina,kumuda,pundareeka
and common zoophytes,which live in clear
water.

जलौक संग्रहण विधि.
‘तासांग्रहणमार्द्रचमरणा’ इत्यादि| जातयः सविषाणां ‘कृ ष्णा कर्बररा’ इत्यादि; निविरषाणां ‘कविला विङ्गला’
इत्यादि| िोषणममनत ‘ििे महनत घटे’ इत्यादि|अिचारणममनत ‘अथ जलौकोऽिसेकसाध्य’ इत्यादि, चकारा
त्िश्चात्कमारदि||(सब.सब.13/14) .
ऋतब- The best time for collecting jaloukas is” sharad ritu”(autumn).
 The jaloukas can be caught with piece of wet leather,in tanks,or streams and
wherethere are lotuses. They can be collected by applying fresh meat of dead
animals to the legs of human being himself and is kept in his leg water for
some time.
 When jaloukas gets attracted and stick to his legs,they can be removed by
sprinkling saindhava over their mouths,and collected.
 Poisonous leeches mustbe thrown out.
Preservation of jalouka
 After collecting the jalaoukas, they should be kept in awide and new
earthern pot making the bed with the help of grass.
 Purewater filled into the pot , place a jalouka in a pot and feed it with leaf
of lotus plant and powder of lotus plant and
shrungataka,kasheruka,brunala,pushkara,beejachurna,
 Sweet cold water should be provided as diet for jalouka.
 On every 3rd
day water should be changed and feeds should be dropped
inside the pot.
 After seven days the pot itself should be changed.

 Athura siddhatha-in yogya patients the vital data is checked to
confirm the fitness for the procedure.
 Part to which jalaukavacharana is to carried out is rubbed with
mud,cowdung,with gauze.
Jalouka siddhata -jalouka of good quality is taken and kept in
rajani & sarshapa kalkodaka.by this jalouka will activated.
Sambhara sanghraha-
shastra,shalaka,pichu,plotha,patra,patta,thaila,kashaya,saindhava,ale
pa dravya.
pradhanakarma

 The patientismade to sit or lie inthe supine position.the jaloukaisappliedonthe site whichis
driedalready.The jaloukabitesthe skin&andsuckthe boolditself
 if the jaloukadoesnotsuckor bite the skin,adrop of milkor bloodisshedonsurface or mild
prick is made.
 As soonas jaloukasuckingthe blood,itshouldbe coverdwithwetwhite guaze leavingitsfacial
regionconcoverd.
 Whenits face appearslike the hoopof a horse &itsraisesitsneck,we can understandthatithas
startedsucking.

 As soonas the jaloukaisfreedfromsuckingpaste of thandulakanaisto appliedoveritsbody
and mixture of thailaandsaindavalavanaissmearedonitsmouth.

 Thenwithhelpof thumb&small fingerof the lefthand,the tailaendof jaloukaistobe held.the
bodyof the jloukaissqueezedwithfingersof righthand&pushedgentlytowardsitsface.
 Thismaneuverwill inducevomitingof the suckedblood.thisiscontinueduntil the signsof
propervomitinginjaloukaare found.
 Afterpropervomitingthe jaloukakeptinaearthenpot,containingwater,thenitwill reapplied
after7 days.
Yogya ayogya for jaloukacharana

Personalities:nrupa,adhya,bheera,sukuma,bala,sthavira,naari,parama sukumara.
Diseased condition:vataraktha,visarpa,kustha,visha.
Contraindication:absolute hamophilia,relative pregnancy,anemia &hypotonia.
