Job Description:
The ABC Organization Board of Directors is composed of leaders from the nonprofit and forprofit sector who are dedicated to the organization’s mission. Serving on the ABC Organization
Board of Directors is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about
strengthening leadership and governance in the nonprofit sector.
Board members are expected to have financial acumen to read and understand ABC
Organization’s financial statements and otherwise help the board fulfill its fiduciary
responsibilities.
Board members are expected to attend four board meetings per year. They are expected to
read board materials in advance of board meetings and come prepared to ask questions and
participate in discussions.
Board members are expected to serve on one or more committees of the board and to actively
participate in committee work.
Board members are expected to play an active role in securing the financial resources necessary
for ABC Organization to achieve its mission. Board members are expected to leverage personal
relationships and connections to help the development committee and staff identify and solicit
potential funders, as well as directly invest in ABC Organization’s work by making a personal
contribution each year.
Board members are expected to responsibly represent ABC Organization to their respective
communities and to advocate for ABC Organization’s mission, programs, and services as
appropriate.
Board terms last for three years and board members can serve for up to three consecutive
terms.

Marketing Professional
ABC Organization seeks a marketing professional with experience in marketing
communications, organizational messaging, branding, reputation, and organizational crisis and
public relations management. We seek a leader to provide guidance and assist board and staff
with understanding the value of marketing and external communications to advance our
mission. We prefer a candidate who has familiarity with social media and emerging networking
technology and the ability to connect ABC Organization to media networks and partners who
can identify and connect the organization to public relations opportunities to increase our
reach. Experience creating and telling compelling stories on behalf of an organization or brand
is a plus. This individual must have prior nonprofit board member experience or a board
training certificate.
