Every Saturday over the first four weeks of college football season, Field Agent went on-location with a handful of tailgating parties. Our purpose was, and will be throughout the season, to determine the brands and products fans purchase for tailgating parties. Here’s a glance at the 1st Quarter scoreboard.

  1. 1. winning brands During Football Tailgating 1st QTR TOP BEER brands COORS LIGHT 50% Bud Light 38% Miller Lite 23% – Of those (87%) serving beer at their tailgating party – 52 popular beer brands presented TOP liquor brands bacardi rum jack daniels whiskey 4-way tie 50% 38% 14% – Of those (47%) serving liquor at their tailgating party – 27 popular liquor brands presented Coca-Cola 70% Dr. Pepper 30% 2-way tie pepsi / sprite 19% TOP Soft drink brands – Of those (90%) serving soft drinks at their tailgating party – 28 popular soft drink brands presented DORITOS 48% LAYS 45% TOSTITOS 45% TOP salty snack brands – Of those (97%) serving chips/salty snacks at their tailgating party – 15 popular chip/salty snack brands presented HAMBURGER 54% CHICKEN 38% HOT DOGS 38% TOP MEAT / MAIN DISHES – Of those (87%) serving meat/meat-based foods at their tailgating party – 16 meats/meat-based foods presented KETCHUP 81% MUSTARD 81% 37% TOP CONDIMENTS – Of those (90%) serving condiments/sauces at their tailgating party – 7 condiments/sauces presented 2-way tie MAYO / SALSA WALMART 48% KROGER 31% 31% TOP RETAILERS – Of those (93%) who purchased tailgating supplies from a store – 27 stores presented SAM’S CLUB The 1st Quarter results above were obtained by surveying attendees of 30 different tailgating parties at 30 different game day venues across the country. Percentages demonstrate the proportion of tailgating parties serving the specified brand/product.
