Today’s data marketplaces are large, closed ecosystems that are in the hands of few established players or a consortium that decide on the rules, policies, etc.
Yet, the main barrier of the European data economy is the fact that current data spaces and marketplaces are “siloes”, without support for data exchange across their boundaries.
This webinar reveals how these boundaries can be overcome through the i3-MARKET “backplane”, which is an infrastructure able to connect all the stakeholders providing the suitable level of trust (consensus-based self-governing, auditability, reliability, verifiable credentials), security (P2P encryption, cryptographic proofs) and privacy (self-sovereign identity, zero-knowledge proof, explicit user consent).

Notas del editor
Good morning on behalf of the BDVe project to this webinar. First of all, I hope all of you are doing well in these difficult months.
Today we have the pleasure of having four speakers from the i3-Market project who are going to present some of the key aspects related to the creation of a smart data ecosystem: Trust, Security and Privacy. They will provide a few hints on what it’s being developed in the scope of i3-Market, a project that, as you may know, is developing open source software to facilitate the federation of data marketplaces in a trustworthy, secure and privacy-preserving manner.
But before I give the floor to our speakers, allow me to say a few words about the logistics of the webinar.
First, if you are interested in topics related to big data and analytics, go regularly to our webinar web page shown at the bottom of the slide. In this URLs you will find more information about future webinars, as well as links to all previous recordings and slides.
Please, write any question you may want to ask to our speakers in the questions chat. At the end of the sessions the speakers will answer your questions.
Right after the end of the webinar, you will be directed to a very brief survey to get your feedback and recommendations, but now I’m going to launch a couple of short online polls to the audience to check your background and main interest as feedback to our speakers.
The first question of the poll is about your profile. Please, let us know if you are from an academic or an industrial organization… I give you a few seconds to answer…. It seems…
The second and last question is related to the subject of this particular webinar and you can select multiple answers: Are you using or managing data marketplaces or data sharing platforms? The possible answers are: I manage a data marketplace; I’m a data consumer; I’m a data provider; or I’m just interested on the topic.
I give you a few more seconds as well…. Apparently, this is the case for X% of the audience
Thanks for answering.
Allow me to introduce briefly the agenda and the speakers.
First of all, Vasiliki Koniakou, form the Athens University of Economic and business, is going to provide an overview of the i3-Market project and its context.
After that Alessandro Amicone, from GFT Italy, will present the first of the three pillars for building a Smart Data ecosystem: Trust
Aghiles Adjaz, from IDEMIA, will present the second pillar: Security
And last but not least, Juan Hernández, from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, will introduce key aspects about the third pillar: Privacy
Without further delay, let me hand over to Vasiliki. I’m giving you presenter’s rights as we speak… and now you should be able to share your screen.
Vasiliki, the floor is yours.
