 8 questions.
 +10/-5 for pounce.
 Infinite pounce & bounce.
 During pounce, if one part is correct & another one is
incorrect, then the score remains neutral.
 The decision of Akademos is final & binding.
-: Rules for Each Round :-
 In 2019, at a 'crowning' picturesque location in our city of joy, a
certain 'god' made his symbolic move with the help of a
champion in his field, against one of the greatest who ever
fought a certain 'battle'.
 The 'god' went into nostalgia mode as he remembered about a
similar incident regarding his father, when he was just ten.
 Which place witnessed this incident? (3)
 On which occasion these three people was presented there on
that afternoon? (4)
 Which incident did he mention? (3)
 This residential twin tower in Ontario had been
nicknamed after an immeasurable influential 'symbol'
due to its feature.
 A celebration event way back in 1962 held at the
Madison Square Garden, saw a melodious 30 second
timespan associated with this 'symbol', on which the
centre of attraction of that event , a Pulitzer prize
winner joked -- "I can now retire." (vis)
 These traditional inventions, retaining its utility & assuring
thousands of men and women with their traditional outfit to
fight against a harsh natural 'rival' as well as feed thousands of
skilled artisan families by providing them with livelihoods
including potters & and weavers.

 Improper use of these products creates a deadly hazard on
human body, whose one of the earliest records was made by
some surgeons in north India.

 Graphic designer Matthew Dent designed a
commemorative 50 pence coin in 2011 for the Royal Mint
to celebrate 50 years of an NGO. Which animal did he
choose to be featured at the centre?
 Perhaps, his most notable work came into existence when
his designs were selected for the reverse sides of six
different pence coins. Here he brilliantly redesigned his
'unfinished' products that will certainly "united in terms of
theme, execution and coverage." What were his designs
all about? (vis)
"Violence & Forgiveness"
 Invested in 1978 as the first non-Italian in 456 years this avid traveler
offered forgiveness to a certain Turkish member of an infamous
"pack of canine" organization from his hospital bed in 1981, whose
reason remains mysterious -- theories and allegations have accused
the CIA, the KGB, the Bulgarian government, the Turkish mafia &
more.
 In 1983, this 'polyglot' had a private conversation with the member,
emerged as friends & also stayed in touch with his family during the
latter's imprisonment, and in 2000 requested that he be pardoned.
 So, tell me what was actually happened in 1981?
 In one of the episodes in TBBT, Caltech was sending
Leonard to Switzerland to observe the 'largest' of its
kind in the world (approximately 27km in
circumference) & but he didn't take Sheldon with him.
 That's why Sheldon commented about Leonard that he
is the biggest traitor and in the canteen, did this. What
is the historical significance behind this remark by
Sheldon? [video]
 He made his masterpiece about the reunion of some high school
sweethearts in 2018.

 If "somantoral mohabiswo ostitto bojay rakhe", he currently lives in
Sheffield & is very busy for his upcoming documentary which he has
been making just for his love for football fans & Liverpool F.C.
 But, the twist is that the name of his masterpiece & the documentary
remains the same, though the later one is going to depict a bloody
blemish of British police.

 Name the masterpiece/documentary. (3)
 What was the stigma all about? (3)
 Why his decision about not to change the name is justified? (4)
 Over a century and a half ago, photographs of a young Anglo-Indian
woman had been published in the major newspapers in Calcutta that
shook the town to its core.
 In the face of relentless criticism, an acute observer was appointed, who
became an overnight star & bequeathed Calcutta with an institution
that was to become among the finest in the country, and was most
certainly the earliest, under the leadership of a British civil servant.
 One of the members of this institution later 'shared' his 'alliterative
experiences' & became a pioneer just like his senior. (3+4+3)

 Wijemuni Vijitha Rohana de Silva (born 1965) was a Srilankan sailor. Vijitha
Rohana faced a court martial in the year 1987. He was sentenced to six
years in prison, however President Premadasa gave him a presidential
pardon after few years.

 After his release from prison he gained a degree from a University. In 2000
he contested the general election under the Sinhala Urumava Party.
 After politics did not work, he tried to go into business & opened a music
shop in Colombo whose best-selling item was ironically Hindi film and music
discs. Last heard he became an astrologer and was again arrested for
predicting the death of the Sri Lankan President.

 For which infamous work he was court martialled ?
 On October 30 2019, Facebook confirmed that X, a sophisticated snooping
software developed by Israel’s NSO Group was used to target Indian
journalists, activists, lawyers and senior government officials for a two-week
period until May, when the Indian National Election was held. INC alleged
that their leaders, including general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, are also
being targeted by this. They also claimed WhatsApp sent messages to
different people whose phones were hacked. One such message was also
received from the WhatsApp of Priyanka Gandhi.
 X is still featured on the Tuscan flag and coat of arms. X is a low-cost airline
headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey. Mobil Oil has had a X as its company logo
since 1930s. Mythologically X is a mysterious creature with some magical
power.
 X was appointed as a Fuel Inspector on Bengal and North-
Western Railway in 1892 and worked with the Railways till
1919.
 X was then transferred to Gorakhpur & then posted as
Transhipment Inspector in Bihar.

 X helped to establish a school for Railway employees and a
Railway recreation club with sports facilities.

 X enrolled himself for the World War and then quit the
Railways in 1919. X was the guardian of the people of Y named
after the Tortoise incarnation of Vishnu, from their unwanted
Bloody Deaths.
 X belongs to a business family from Mehuva, Gujrat. X has a close
association with Mahatma Gandhi because of his good legal skill. He
was first from his community to secure a Graduate degree with
Honours. X got a chance to explore himself as well as his community as
Acharya Vijayanandsuri was unable to attend a invitation (as Acharya
had to travel a long distance with bare foot).
 X’s performance was suppressed by the glory Y. X’s adherence to the
values of his community won the admiration of Y. When X was hugely
criticised for his unholy journey, Y defended X and wrote a letter to the
Diwan of Junagadh in support of X. (vis)
 Edwin Hardin Sutherland was an American Sociologist. He is
considered as one of the most influential Criminologist of the
20th century.
 Sutherland's historical importance rests upon his having
introduced (in a 1939's speech to the American Sociological
Association,) a concept which violated existing prejudices that
aristocrats can do no wrong (which was famously expressed in
the ancient legal view that a king could do no wrong).
 Many of the old heritage buildings of Kolkata are being
reused as museums and art galleries.
 The partially demolished Old Currency Building is
transformed into a gallery of Bengal Art and named X
based on a novel by Tagore published in 1916 on a
theme which was reborn at present time through a
nation wide call by a person from a small town of
Mehsana District.
 During early 90s, the daily life of an ordinary
Kashmiri family turned into an Indian household
name.
 The family was making a living from their three
houseboats whose different name meaning
'flower', 'garden' and 'gardener'. But, their simple
livelihood was threatened due to terrorism.
 It all started during a dinner party of Hindustan Unilever that has seen a tragic
consequence followed by some "fireworks" where a certain group kept calm &
optimistic all night as well as constantly asking people if they needed anything.
 To find the answer of that miracle a study highlights the responsibilities of
some "ordinary heroes" who believed in the system - "last man out".
 The study shows that those actions weren’t prescribed in manuals but it all lies
beneath their three-pronged recruiting system which helps to identify people
from smaller cities where traditional Indian values still hold sway.
 So, tell me who were these uncapped heroes who are recognised through a
certain "STARS" system & what was actually happened on that night?

 In Buddhism, the Four Arya Truths are "the truths of the Noble Ones".
 According to K.R. Norman, a British philologist, the Professor Emeritus of
Indian Studies at the University of Cambridge, and a leading authority
on Pali Language, the basic set is as follows:
 idam _______, "this is pain"
 ayam _______-samudayo, "this is the origin of pain"

 ayam _______-nirodha, "this is the cessation of pain"

 ayam _______-nirodha-gamini patipada, "this is the path leading to the
cessation of pain."]
 However, this complex philosophy was explained to us in a very layman’s
language with the help of a "Royal Example". How?
 Though the creator has never explained whether his creation was inspired
from this Buddhist Philosophy or not.
 X was a principal scientist in
the German nuclear weapons
program during World War II. It
could not be determined whether
he sabotaged it, or he simply could
not succeed.
 However he was more famous for
something which can be explained
as “the impossibility of determining
the winner and runner of a certain
race while they are in full speed” to
a layman.
 Fan theories suggest that
Y, a character was
nicknamed X because of
him not being sure of his
choice about his dual life.
 When Y started his dual
life he was not sure about
it and thereafter the
nickname was apt in his
case.
 Seth Walchand hirachand Doshi was already a known figure in
transportation business when he came to know about the
barren land at a village in malegaon, Maharashtra. He decided to
start a new business and also encouraged the local farmers to
produce the raw materials which he could get at a cheaper cost.
 The products of his business was a huge hit among the 80s and
90s kids and bring back sweet memories even today.
 One of the flagship product was the catalyst to tone
down/sweeten the refusal to a marriage proposal. Id the
product.
Lamentations 3 31-33 of the Holy Bible states that
For no one is cast off
by the Lord forever.
Though he brings grief, he will show compassion,
so great is his unfailing love.
For he does not willingly bring affliction
or grief to anyone.
Some Historians suggest that X was gay which a punishable act as
per the Christians and to the administration at that time. But he
believed that being a gay does not disqualify him to be an out cast.
Thereafter, as per those historians, he subtly incorporated this
lamentation about everyone being equal to God in one of his
greatest work.
 "Notes from behind a locked door" is an interview of X published in the
Indian express by Suanshu khurana.
 “A board nailed to the door of X’s apartment is the only allowance to the
world outside and it declines all intrusion: "The door will not be opened
on Mondays and Fridays. Please ring the bell only thrice. If no one
opens, please leave your name and address. Thank you. Inconvenience
is regretted."...These are the lines written on the board.”
 As X was reluctant to give an interview, to take a phone call, khurana
wrote a long letter to X asking the questions and got the answers after
he obtained permission for the same.
 Here the antagonist Bane is seen doing
something which was a way to pay homage
to one of the classic literature.
 Which classic literature did Nolan pay
tribute to? (video)
 In ancient India, X was considered to be an "art". Vatsayana in his book
Kamasutra wrote about this art form among the 64 arts.
 There were many pioneers of this art. Among them a few was Sharvilak in
Mricchakatikam by Shudraka, Sajjalak in Charudatta by Bhāsa and the third
one is Apaharvarma in Dashakumarcharita by Dandi.
 There are only two manuscripts that have been discovered till date about the
art form X. One is named ষণ্মুখকল্পম which is kept in Asiatic Society. Another one
is kept in Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute in Pune.
 In ষণ্মুখকল্পম, the deity worshipped is ষণ্মুখ or kartikeya who has 12 hands and 6
heads. It was also assumed that having so many hands and heads made him
the master of this art and thereby he was worshipped as a God.
 X had gone to Mexico to interview Dykes Simmons, an American on
death row for murdering three young people. There he interviewed
"Salazar", who saved Simmons' life after he was shot. "Salazar" revealed
his dark side as he began discussing Simmons' disfigured face, tormented
upbringing and how attractive his victims had been.
 It was later revealed that Mexican prison doctor "Salazar" was Alfredo
Ballí Treviño, a physician from an upper-class family who murdered his
friend and lover Jesus Castillo Rangel and mutilated his body. He was also
suspected of killing and dismembering several hitchhikers. He was
sentenced to death, later reduced to 20 years and he was released in
1981. After his release, Ballí continued working as a doctor until his death
in 2009.
 How was Salazar introduced to us by X?

 "Motherland Calls" is the tallest statue of Europe &
the tallest statue ( Excluding Pedestals) of a woman in
the world . It is designed by Yevgeny Vuchetich &
Nikolai Nikitin. The construction of this monument
started in May,1959 & completed on 15 October,
1967.

giant finger. It is about seven feet tall and two
feet wide. It contains around 4000 lines of text
describing 282 certain “do’s and dont’s”. At the
top, or "fingertip", of the stele is a carved

 Actor Gaurav Chakraborty once tweeted along with this
photograph that a shooting took place in this beautiful
Victorian building.
 Incidentally, it was not the first time that this mansion has
seen this kind of media people. Back in 1967, a man of
many parts chose this staircase as the first meeting place of
an "encyclopedia" with the protagonist.
 Tell me the name of this massive building, constructed by
Narayan Kisson Sen, under supervision of Martin Burn
Company along with the incident of 1967. (vis)
 This eminent surgeon organized the Bengal Ambulance
Corps to serve during WW1. Back in 1906, he took upon
himself the responsibility for curing a 'brave' patient
whose whole body had been poisoned & later published
an article for his exemplary heroism.
 In a felicitation ceremony in Sovabazar Rajbari, a famous
spiritual leader reportedly pointed at one of his brothers
& said, "We need more strong men like him"(a true
pioneer in his own 'field')
 When the time comes, someone raises both of its 'instruments',
with one, typically the right & slightly above the other. It rubs the
sharp edge of one, called a "scraper", along the "file" of the other.
The vibrations caused by running the scraper along the file are the
source of the persistent 'music' - a highly pure tone whose
frequency higher than the highest key on a piano.
 The process which happens so faster than our eye can see, is
actually sometimes an advertisement, meant to get a certain
attention or a rivalry gesture to encourage a competitor to back off
or quieter, like a whisper.
 What am I talking about that is an inevitable part of bengali horror
stories?
 Few years ago, minutes before a flight, the crew announced that a
person was required to approach them immediately as scans showed
that one of his bags had a skull with teeth & big bones and the other bag
contained a skin belonged to Kunal.
 The authority later found that he heads the only kind of institute in India
& his obsession with a self-taught lost British art, a combination of 5
arts: anatomy, sculpting, painting, carpentry, cobblery.
 Name this art whose artists were employed by maharajas earlier.
 Who is this Kunal, a jewel of Nainital who was brought in 1997 from
Darjeeling?
 In a certain list, there were these eight foreigners
and five Indians.
 Which two persons are missing here? (Vis)
 Born in Chittagong in 1847 this Deputy Magistrate, is often
considered as one of the greatest poets prior to the arrival of
Tagore.
 His mid 1870s masterpiece was actually an evocative
expression of Bengali nationalism in literature, which laments
about an incident that happened nearly 120 years ago.
 Later in 1893, he chose an almost similar as well as epical
incident for his another creation that depicts a conflict arose
from a dynastic succession struggle.
 So, what were the subjects of his two creations?
 In a certain "assembly" X, the president, called Y by
Y's sobriquet given by a certain father figure and
requested Y to address in poetry instead of prose. In
reply, y said that calling Y by the sobriquet was not
constitutional but poetic.
 However, Y obliged and recited these lines --
 "Bulbul ko gul mubarak, Gul ko chaman mubarak,
 Rangeen tabian ko range sukhan mubarak."
 During a certain late 70s project, Ray came to
this very place for different reasons. The
visual in the next slide depicts the first
reason.
 Just tell me, which two word term will come
to your mind that depicts that second artistic
reason. (vis)

After his release, Ballí continued working as a doctor until his death in 2009.  How was Salazar introduced to us by X?
