3. INTRODUCTION
Double acting power hacksaw cuts two
materials simultaneously by its scotch
yoke mechanism, so the production rate
increase twice then that of power
hacksaw.
Double acting power hacksaw works
under by the scotch yoke mechanism.
The scotch yoke mechanism converts the
rotary motion into the reciprocating
motion.
4. SCOTCH YOKE MECHANISM
The Scotch yoke (also known as slotted link mechanism) is a reciprocating
motion mechanism, converting the linear motion of a slider into rotational
motion, or vice versa. The piston or other reciprocating part is directly
coupled to a sliding yoke with a slot that engages a pin on the rotating part.
6. Calculate Rotation of motor
Driven Pulley
Driver Pulley AC Motor
DATA:
Motor Speed = 1440 rpm.
Diameter of Driven Pulley = 0.348m.
Diameter of Driver Pulley = 0.03810m.
Calculate the speed of driven pulley:
Pulley Diameter ratio =1:8 (Driver pulley : driven pulley)
Driver pulley speed = motor speed * pulley D. ratio
= 1440rpm*1/8
= 180rpm
