DEFINITION OF PROSTITUTION
"Prostitute" is derived from the Latin prostituta. Some
sources cite the verb as a composition of "pro" meaning
"up front" or "forward" and "situere", defined as "to offer
up for sale". Another explanation is that "prostituta" is a
composition of pro and statuere .
A literal translation therefore is: "to put up front for sale" or
"to place forward".
The people are called prostitute because they practice sex
with other people for money.
TYPES OF PROSTITUTION
• Street.
• Brothels.
• Escorts.
• Sex tourism.
• Virtual sex.
• Gigolo.
Street :
In street prostitution, the prostitute solicits customers while
waiting at street corners, sometimes called "the track" by
pimps and prostitutes alike. They usually dress in skimpy,
provocative clothing, regardless of the weather.
Brothels:
Brothels are establishments specifically dedicated to prostitution,
often confined to special red-light districts in big cities. Other
names for brothels include bordello, whorehouse, cathouse,
knocking shop, and general houses.
Scorts:
In escort prostitution, the act takes place at the customer's
residence or hotel room (referred to as out-call), or at the
escort's residence or in a hotel room rented for the occasion by
the escort (called in-call).
Sex tourism:
Sex tourism is travel for sexual intercourse with prostitutes
or to engage in other sexual activity.
Virtual sex:
Virtual sex, that is, sexual acts conveyed by messages
rather than physically, is also the subject of commercial
transactions.
Gigolo:
A man who has a continuing sexual relationship with and
receives financial support from a woman. A man who is
hired as an escort or a dancing partner for a woman.
USE OF CHILDREN FOR PROSTITUTION
Regarding the prostitution of children the laws on
prostitution as well as those on sex with a child
apply. If prostitution in general is legal there is
usually a minimum age requirement for legal
prostitution that is higher than the general age
of consent. Although some countries do not
single out patronage of child prostitution as a
separate crime, the same act is punishable as
sex with an underage person.
CAUSES
Prostitution is given for some causes such as:
• Lack of financial resources.
• Lack of moral values instilled.
• Low educational level.
• Family disintegration.
• Feelings of abandonment and inferiority.
• Inability to establish satisfying and heterosexual
relationships.
• Mental deficiency.
CONSEQUENCES
The consequences of prostitution are:
• Venereal diseases such as AIDS, vaginal
herpes, gonorrhea, etc..
• Lead to drug and alcohol addictions.
• Precipitates mental weakness.
• Social rejection.
• Violation of the law.
• Unwanted pregnancies.
• Broken families.
CONCLUSION
Prostitution is the business or practice of providing sexual
services to another person in return for payment. The person
who receives payment for sexual services is called
a prostitute and is a kind of sex worker, and the person who
receives such services is known by a multitude of terms.
To create and maintain this world requires the existence of a
claim, it is imperative that our social members want to pay and
seek it. In contrast to phenomena like drugs, it is society itself
that nourishes creating the problem with demand to which
"grab" those who, as mentioned above, due to be embedded
within networks of social marginality (itself not treated properly
by the government) see as the only way the prostitution. That
is, as a society, we are doubly responsible and that create the
demand side and on the other, as not properly solve our social
problems push them to take advantage of it.
